      Seven weeks after OTA-7's release, we're preparing for the release of Ubuntu Touch OTA-8!

      This forum post is a companion to the OTA-8 call for testing blog post.

      Please post any general observations you have while testing the current image in the rc channel, as compared to OTA-7 in this thread.

      If you have any comments on any of the specific issues in the OTA-8 tracker, please post them in the issue thread so they are easier to track.

      This is not a place to request more bugs be added to the scope for this release. We'll experience death by a thousand cuts if we allow adding "just one more thing" to the release again. We want to make sure that the bugs labeled as fixed are actually fixed so we can get improvements out to the Stable channel.

          @flay

          I'm not able to confirm this problem. In Podbird, changing podcasts can take a while if you are streaming them rather than having them downloaded. Otherwise, I've got tons of great audio.

              I want to help with this call for testing and I've already made a start with my Nexus7, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right! I'm not very technical , not really familiar with GitHub, but I'm a big fan of UBPorts, ubuntu touch and ubuntu generally and want to make some sort of contribution.

              So I've set the Nexus 7 to the rc channel and tested a few things in the list on the OTA-8 tracker and posted the results as a comment directly at the bottom of the issue page on github. Is that the right place to post the feedback?

              Also, are you asking for testing of the QA issues regardless of device type? What I mean is should I just go down the list and try each issue in turn? Would it be useful to do this also with my M10 and E4.5?

                @ziggutas hi!

                Is that the right place to post the feedback?

                Yes, it is

                Are you asking for testing of the QA issues regardless of device type?

                Yes, the goal is to test that pre-OTA-8 image in all devices to try to publish a final version as good as possible 🙂

                  From my experience everything is working fine now on the N5. I been following the bug tracker since the begining of the year and all of the bugs/new features listed in the QA (OTA-8 tracker) are solved 🙂

                    Hi,

                    I'd be more than happy to help 🙂
                    Just one thing, how do I log an issue?
                    I had to switch to English language for the update to be offered (was in french).
                    I do realise that the French don't have a clue what Bacon is but I was expecting they'd discover it by now 😂

                      @Nick-T hi, first you need a GitHub account, of course 😉 . For OTA-8 related issues, you can introduce your feedback at https://github.com/orgs/ubports/projects/8.

                      For general UT issues, the place to file a bug report is https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues

                      What do you mean by "I had to switch to English language [...]"? The OTA updates should work no matter the language you're using. For example, I have my devices set to Spanish and I don't have any trouble updating.
