    • RE: Ubuntu Touch PinePhone Pre Order Now

Such an awesome and well deserve opportunity thanks to the fantastic job from the UBports community & specially to Marius.
I am so happy for this achievement after all this loooong hard working time.
      Congratulations to all!
Now it's time to support the foundation and also to buy the Pinephone in order to be prepared for the future, an unknown future for all of us regarding freedom and privacy.. sadly.

      Stay strong.

    • RE: Ubuntu Touch OTA-8 Call for Testing

From my experience everything is working fine now on the N5. I been following the bug tracker since the begining of the year and all of the bugs/new features listed in the QA (OTA-8 tracker) are solved 🙂

@CiberSheep said in Convenient VPN App:

I would say, better to work on the system VPN plugin

Thanks for the initiative @marc_aurel . This community needs more people like you.
I have to agree with Joan, It will be much more rich and beneficial to the community if the VPN -plugin- that is already implemented in the system is improved. Because it's already working and very well. Maybe a simplified option would be more desirable rather than "reinventing the wheel" again (like it ALWAYS happen with the GNU/Linux community).
      This is just my opinion.
      Keep up the good work

@flohack I fully agree with you, @alan_g, @advocatux @NeoTheThird and almost everyone here, right now is not the moment but the infrastructure should be there ready when the time comes in the future.
      Thanks for everything.

    • RE: Porting Ubuntu Touch (@UBPorts) to tenshi (BQ Aquaris U Plus)

Because this port also deserves it's own place here. AFAIK it's fully usable now for daily use. @Guf could you please tell us more about the actual situation of the port? 🙂
For sure there are more people interested in knowing about this awesome device.

      Thanks a lot!!

    • RE: most wanted core apps to run ubuntu as daily phone OS

@3arn0wl It does saves notes well but the "issue" is that the app by default is "syncing" the notes to Evernotes. In order to save your notes "locally" you have to change that in the note-app settings

      @Luksus Hello everyone,
After testing this on my OP5 for the past 2 days and experiencing issues with the battery life (it only lasts for 2-3 hours with minimum use), I've decided to rollback to the stable kernel by using the updater (updating from the phone using the channels didn't work).
I will continue running more tests to try to see if this is an isolated case or not.

@c0n57an71n Great idea, I didn't know about this feature from ProtonMail. Voted! I've been using UT for more than 4 years already and ProtonMail for almost 3 years as my main email so this will be really a necessity for me sooner than later.

@rdfrs thats because apparmor rules (waiting for fix to trickle down to stable releases ask @Fuseteam he knows about this better then me)
confinment is mostly done, not a priority though because it will not raise security as much as you think only make it clearer to you the user what i am doing on you're phone, which granted is a very good reason and is why im working on it. (there is a branch with confinement implemented im just waiting until it won't break the app to use)

Awesome! uWolf is currently my daily driver browser in UT. Thank you for your hard work!

@poVoq Unfortunately, that's very dependent on the device, I can do it with my OP5 and my Sennheiser BT headphones

    • RE: Call for testing a the new build-variant "standalone-kernel-method" (vs. full-system-image)

      Just some preliminary report:

      • I got the same error message as @danfro "invalid sparse file format.." but everything was OK and it flashed fine
      • the keyboard is smaller??
      • I've had a bug where I could not write anything and I had to reboot
      • snaps after the space "hack" finally works again 🙂
      • I can confirm the kernel config BINFMT_MISC is not set as you mentioned, but not biggie since winebox never really worked for me on this device.

I will apply now the battery saver ""patch"" and see if I notice some improvements. I will continue testing and report any findings.

i am also willing to give it a try on my OP5, btw, does this also include the necessary flags to be able to run virtualization and winebox?

Thank you for your great work!

Rockwork works amazingly well on Xenial. Hopefully we can have it on Focal in the future. It's a great app. I am ready to help with it when needed.

    • RE: An app for smartwatches that expect Android?

@moem Hello, yes that's the issue. I have the other watches paired with my other phones, they are not attached to the same phone, in fact, I've never tried doing it. Maybe Brian Douglass can give us more insight about this.
