Some newbie questions
-
Hello guys,
I am the new one in the community.
First of all, the installing process was really easy and quick. Great work on that! The OS seems to work fine on my โnewโ OnePlus One and runs quite smooth. Great work on that, too! Today I have installed OTA-8, which was done in less that 5mins. Quite impressive!
As a SFOS user I really like having a fast and acutally working browser and the idea bridging the app gap with webapps seems to me a good idea.
Overall my first impressions are quite well. For now it doesnt fit all my needs for main device but I can imagine using it as daily driver some day.
Well, enough with all this cuddling. I have some questions. I hope you guys can help with that.
Posteo Calendar:
Does anyone use Posteo as its main calendar? How do I sync it?
URL: https://posteo.de:8443/calendars/max.muster/default?
User name: max.muster@posteo.de?I never get that. It adds a calendar but it doesnt show any events or errors.
Is there a easy way to sync contacts and notes, too?
Dash / App scope:
Is there a way to get the dash transparent as well?By the way, what exactly is the point of having the dash and the app scope, which you canโt close?
How do you I get apps into the dash panel?
Overall I think the UI needs a some attention
Anbox:
I always have thougth that Anbox will be implemented in OTA-8. Do you know when its ready? Its not that I want all android apps, but I do need some.Roadmap:
ubuntuusers.de published some month ago a roadmap of UT, which now after rolling out OTA-8 has ended. Does exit a new one?Keyboard:
Is it possible to install another layout? The keyboard is fine but I need a bigger space bar. For me its not usable this way. -
Regarding Posteo, i'm not familiar with it nor the calendar so I'll let someone else reply to you.
Dash etc: You can download Ubutnu Touch Tweak Tool (UTTT) from the open store and mess around with all kinds of settings etc. with that app.
Anbox: Anbox is still being worked on although there are some more important issues being address first so Anbox is not the primary focus.
Roadmap: There was one but I think they felt it was giving false hope to people that saw it if the features on there were not implemented in time so it was removed, I think you will now only get a next OTA milestone.
Keyboard There are some settings in the system settings for keyboard but nothing about enlarging the space bar as far as I know.

Scopes will be going away when new Mir/Unity8 can be included. It's replaced by the app drawer which slides out from the launcher, and is semi-transparent.

When the app is running, open the launcher panel, and long press (or right click) on the app's icon, then choose "Pin to Launcher" in the popup menu.

Anbox support will be included by default when it's ready (this means there will be a one-click install to download the image, and the kernel requirements will be enabled by default).

There's no alternate keyboards, but you can enable layouts from other languages in settings.

I think thats a bit sad. I didnt care much about the time schedule. Its ready when its ready, but this way you always knew what is coming.

Scopes are going? Okay. I didnt know that.
By the way who develops unity further? Only UBports?

I know that. The english space bar is a little wider still I gladly would get rid of those ".com" keys I dont need.
Thank you, guys.
