Wow, sorry for waiting until the last minute for the forum announcement! I've set reminders so I don't forget again.

UBports will have a public community Q&A on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1800 UTC. You can get a countdown to this time on the Youtube event page.

In this meeting we'll let you know about a very generous sponsorship, how project development meetings have been going on, discussing bug tracking, and more!

We'll also be discussing your questions, so feel free to reply to this post with them!

how difficult is it to bring ubportbuntu in a way that we can savely use aptitude-apt-get commands ... ubuntu says that we destroy the only image-partition on the phone with this (only bad guys enable developermode to write )........ 😞

How does Ubuntu Touch render emoji? Does it use the CBDT/CBLC color font format (like NotoColorEmoji.ttf from Android) or SVG in Open Type font format (like the EmojiOne Color SVGinOT Font)?

How to support the wiki ?
I was today on the Ubport-Wiki to figure out how i can help (or not πŸ˜‰
it would be a great place for pictures of the flashing, links and so on. Is there a reason why the login goes only with goolge+login / Github-account. ( OK no Spam )
What else can we do without a github-account ? is there a way that we can login in the wiki to work there with my normal ubport-login ?????
Example: i flash a device, make pictures and documentation of all steps (including trubleshooting) and bring it in a

@mike I love to use the terminal on my UT, and to use ssh. So a full working aptitude is a huge plus to me. But I know enabling aptitude will break OTA update, but could you a user chos between OTA or a manual update that allow aptitude?

First just wanted to say good job for taking back the project. You've done a great job! Keep up the good work! Also, thanks for doing Q&A and having a telegram group, make the UT community feel alive! Now some questions :
1 - Is there a road map coming?
2 - What are the plan for app development? Like update on tools and walkthrough to make app.
3 - I don't use Ubuntu for my desktop anymore (I use arch) is there anyway to make UT app on something else than Ubuntu?
4 - If I have suggestion/request, not a bug report, is there a place where I can give it?
5 - As someone who use the UT terminal a lot, how the apt repository work? (who is the owner, how do I add package to it, need to be compile for ARM.) And is there any plan to change it in the future?

Hello, I want to thank you very much for taking the lead about Ubuntu Touch and build this community. This has made me think about the need to become more active in free software communities and not just to be a user of ethical software.

I want you to ask one question.

                      • Instant messaging is the killer app (less expensive than actual telephone calls and they are implementing audio and video calls). I think this should be strategic.
Meanwhile Telegram works fairly well and Loqui needs urgently some help to implement the new cryptographic protocol (noise) in order to keep running. https://github.com/loqui/im/issues/1230
Are there any plans to support this? Maybe contacting developers that already implement noise protocol or other javascript developers?

                      Thank you very much

                        Hey,

I couldn't try Ubuntu Touch yet. Is it ready for the daily use?
Is there a 'Flagship' (Don't know if you call it in english like that) which works which UT (Should have QI-Charching, NFC, UHD and a micro-SD slot)?
Would it be possible to run UT on a Microsoft 950XL?
Does UT work with the Microsoft dock or the Samsung Dex?

I have watched through the Q&A now, and I'm very happy for the increased attention to the ubports project. πŸ™‚ I'm also very happy to know about the efforts made to support backup of the device. Thanks for your efforts!

In the Q&A I got to know that ubports now runs on Nexus 4, but the devices page still says that there is no image. Should that information just be ignored and either of the two suggested procedures should be followed?

Regarding what to do with the new opportunities that comes with the new full-time developer, I think the first priority should be to add support for an inexpensive smallish device (similar to Nexus 4, Nexus 5 or L90) that is easy to get in as many countries as possible. That's because i think all of the currently supported devices are actually quite hard to get.

I would like to say that in my opinion the second priority should be to make more native apps and make it easier to make native apps, but I'd rather put Anbox as the second priority anyway since I think it is probably a more pragmatic way to get access to more apps fast.

@hans1977se Thanks for the flowers! πŸ™‚

The reason for N4 not being marked now is probably that we see some minor issues still, but I think it will be almost soon to be updated there.

                              hi there,

First question, i have bq 4.5 so my question is, do i need to change any settings on my phone to keep getting updates? i did install open store and i am updating my apps for there.

2nd question if ubuntu store is dead, should we remove it from the phone? and if yes how.

Success with taking oven unity 8 and ubuntu touch development.
