Donated some money - no ACK
-
Hello,
I donated yesterday some euro via Paypal and got no ACK from the ubports.com server. Note, I say ACK and not „thanks“. Is this by intention or went something wrong?Matthias

@guru yeah I checked with the account and we got your money safe - thanks a million

Well, it wasn't one million euro
But I think somehow an ACK would be a good idea (when the donator puts, for example, his/her forum account or the email addr in the comment field in Paypal).
Thanks for checking anyway. -
@guru I am not sure how this could work, we cannot get any notification from Paypal other than an email, and that must be processed manually. I dont think any automatic integration is possible for us, as we are not any of those big companies

If you get an email from Paypal you could use
procmail(4)
on any Linux or FreeBSD system to do something like a reply automagically. I know about what I'm talking here. I pipe all my incoming mails throughfetchmail --> sendmail --> procmail --> SpamAssassin --> (mbox|spam)

This is a bit awkward, but the reason I ask is because I have played a part in making this donation.
When donating via paypal there is a box to include a personal message to the recipient.
@guru included a message to describe how this donation came about. Would this message be received by ubports? Or might it slip thorough unnoticed? This would be understandable but, speaking for myself, it's always nice to get some sort of acknowledgement when making a gift.
