        Tried to reflash my mx4Ubuntu edition back to ubports touch from flyme which I used as abit of fun. When using MDTool all goes as expected unto detecting the device. I then get a waiting for device message and everything hangs. Have tried different cables and have rerun a few times. The device just doesn't respond. Any ideas. I know I can flash using a different method but I'm being abit stubborn at the moment.

          You cannot directly flash a UBports build on your device when it is currently running Flyme. A locked bootloader is installed with the Android ROM. This is what you will need to do:

          Note that these instructions will not work on any device except the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition. Do not try them on any other device. Because of the use of SP Flash Tool, it is not generally recommended to try them at all.

          1. Download SP Flash Tool (see warning below)
          2. Extract and flash http://mdt-files.com/downloads/old/mx4.zip to your device. Do not try to flash it with your recovery, it will not work.
          3. After booting Ubuntu, put the device into developer mode and begin the process of flashing UBports builds.

          Please be careful while using SP Flash Tool. Carefully read all of its prompts and don't check boxes like "Erase All". You can permanently damage your device while using this tool.

            @UniSuperBox Thanks for the info was wondering why I couldn't unlock the boot loader. Will try in the next day or so. Can't remember now if I used sp or adb flash to get flyme on there my aging brain is struggling with all this new stuff I'm learning😄☺.

                      No, i used my ubuntu desktop.

                      The parameters of my phone :
                      -> USB developer mode
                      -> Root enabled (in security menu)

                      In my desktop, i don't know if it's help me but i used adb previously, so i created in my $home a directory ".android", with test file named "adb_usb.ini". In text file the references of vendor (meizu) to adb recognize the phone : "0x2a45"

                      What is not work for you ?

                        @janvi Thanks. Have found some detailed instructions on using sp tool on a bq phone, so will follow those and check as I'm doing it. Think its something I'm doing when trying to use the terminal commands to get it running.
