      Hi all,

I briefly read that Ubuntu Touch ports for new or unsupported devices can be made by anyone, granted they have the know-how to do so. Is this true? I am really drawn to Ubuntu Touch because I love the idea of getting away from Google. I have never developed for Linux. I only know basic C at best. However, I consider myself to be tech savvy, and I am definitely passionate about security!

Could I make a reasonable attempt at making my own port for the OnePlus 7 Pro by following the online guide? What would something like that entail? Am I better off waiting for an experienced community member to do it? Is a port for the OnePlus 7 Pro currently in the works?

      Thanks!

If you feel strong enough you can try i would say, but i think it's a long way so don't start it thinking you'll succeed a full working phone in one month.

Get an eye here : https://forums.ubports.com/category/33/porting to see how it's going for others ports.

        2015-Now : Meizu MX4 (ubp OTA-23) for daily use
        Spare : Nexus 5

          There is some documentation here:
          http://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/porting/introduction.html

          And here:
          http://docs.halium.org/en/latest/porting/first-steps.html

I guess it is an Android9 device?

          OnePlus3 (dev)

@SwankyBarbecue4 I think the main issue here maybe that the halium version for your device is not ready yet. But when it is there is plenty of help available.

                  Hey,
Ryan made a port of UBPorts to the OnePlus 7 Pro back in March. If you haven't found it yet, here's our XDA post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ubports-ubuntu-touch-gsi-oneplus-7-pro.4268221/. Our instructions on there are a bit outdated so I'd either skip to the last page and find my post with rootfs instructions or join our Discord for the most up-to-date information.
                  Have a good day!

Wouldn't it be great to get that one in the installer? Some not-too-old devices are good to have. What would be required for that to happen?

                    Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1 and a BQ E4.5. And an Xperia X. Please, someone... make it stop.

@moem Yes that'd be great. I hope we can get it added to the installer soon but I haven't looked into it much yet.
