Free VPN works with UT

Hi All
I'm looking to add a VPN to my Nexus 5 running Ubuntu Touch.
I already have ProtonVPN, and I've tried following the tutorial, but I've found that it doesn't work. I have done some searches and it seems like other people have similar issues with ProtonVPN.
So I'm asking for recommendations of free, reasonably secure VPN services that are easy to set up in UT. Recommendations that people are actually successfully using.
I have some technical skills, and can follow simple instructions, but I'm not into any coding or anything like that.

Well, I've gotten the Netherlands one working. And the USA one is taking much longer to fail than it used to! I'll count that as progress.
