Unable to validate Telegram account in Teleport
-
I've never used telegram before. I just signed up for an account using the official Linux application, but when I try to run Teleport on UT I never receive the confirmation number via text, so I can't confirm my account. Please advise. If you want me to contact you via Telegram please tell me how.

@nontrivial Will a telegram web app such as https://open-store.io/app/telegram.web work. Then try Teleports again.
-
So when I first signed up a test message went to my phone, but apparently now that I am signed up the code goes to my telegram account? When I log in using another client I get the code, but now nothing happens in Teleport when I click "Next" to enter the code.
-
I uninstalled the app and was able to get further, but it seemed do crash and freeze after I entered the code. I closed the app and it appears to be working now.
So is the github issue page the best way to report issues? Also when you change the country is the list Teleport specific or is it system wide? When I searched for "united" united states was not listed, and it turns out USA seems to be the only country in the list that is abbreviated.

@nontrivial I don't want to talk non-sense, but you might have a IP / Phone number conflict. What I mean is that you might be in a country, but you are trying to confirm your log in with a phone number from another country. Is that correct? 'cause is not that clear what you're dealing with. And is kinda hard to replicate your experience since that would mean deleting my account, do a new one, you know...

I am using the Linux desktop Telegram app (which works great) and the Teleport app on my Nexus 5 running UT. However, I haven't moved my SIM card from my current phone yet because I want to make sure it can do everything I need it to do before I try using it as my daily driver (again). So the Nexus 5 is currently using WIFI only for connectivity, has no SIM card, and is not using a cellular connection at all. If and IP address conflict is a concern, both my desktop and the Nexus5 are behind a router which is using the same public IP address?
-
@nontrivial Try to see if you have the option to validate your account through email address. I did my account on Android some time ago, but didn't had any problems accessing it on UT, Ubuntu dektop or Android. Maybe you're not fullfiling a security check.

Oh, I guess I wasn't clear. After I reinstalled the app, and then restarted the app after it froze when I entered the code, it is working now. I just wanted to report the issues of A) USA vs United States, it seems to be broken if you time out entering the code and then try to enter it later, and C) it froze for me after I entered the code. I gave it a few minutes when it seemed to freeze but maybe it was just syncing or something and I should have given it a few more.

@nontrivial
"froze when I entered the code, it is working now. I just wanted to report the "
so what's the status right now? -
@C0n57an71n The status is I had some issues getting it working, but now it is working.
Actually the only reason I figured out that the code went to my telegram account is I signed on for some other reason and had it up and running, so when I tried again to get confirmed in Teleport I heard the notification ding on my desktop.

@nontrivial Glad you solve it! Enjoy your App
Could you please edit the title and write before it [SOLVED], or something like that?
But I think you already know that... -
@C0n57an71n I would be happy to, but apparently the forum software only allows you to edit a post for an hour after it is created.
-
@nontrivial Might wanna know that certain features don't work yet in Teleports: emojy, gif, initiate camera..., They are not bugs, just need a little bit of love.
-
@nontrivial Maybe @Lakotaubp knows how to edit a thread as [SOLVED]?!...
-
@C0n57an71n Thanks, good to know, but I don't expect to be a heavy user.

This post is deleted! -
@C0n57an71n topic Tools, Ask as question. For now. Done.
