The idea is to create a list of BT devices, headsets, speakers, car systems, weighing scales,..., known to work with UT in order to facilitate acquisition choices.
Thank you for contributing by giving in your post the precise name of the BT device model (as well as the smartphone model under UT and the version of UT for which the correct operation has been validated).

      List of working BT devices

      Speakers

      Beats Studio 3,
      JBL GO 2, JBL Clip2,
      JBL Clip 3,
      JBL Flip 4,
      Marley Get Togetherbolded,
      Polaroid PBT562

      Headset

      Jabra Elite 45e
      Avenzo sport earphones

      Car systems

      Jabra Drive handsfree kit,
Citroën C4 Grand Picasso - Car Audio system
      Ford Sync and Seat media
Peugot 5008, Skoda Octavia and a Fiat Ducato

      Others

      Aeroscope oscilloscope
      LG G Watch R (smartwatch)
      iClever BK-05 (folding keyboard)
iClever BK-08 (folding keyboard / touchpad)

      Waiting for your contribution...

JBL GO 2 Portable Bluetooth Waterproof Speaker, (validated with Nexus 5 under UBports UT OTA-14). Work very well, (strangely better with N5 under UT than with my laptop under Ubuntu 16.04).

@libremax maybe there should be a separate list for UT devices and Bluetooth headsets for hands-free calls as well. Just to avoid confusion.

@Stefano This list is about BT devices (headsets, speakers, car systems, weighing scales,...) whose correct operation has been validated (with a smartphone under UT).
I have changed the wording and the presentation in hope to make it more evident.
Tell me if that is always not clear.

@libremax Sorry, but it won't work. Take the number of phones that supports UT and multiply it with the x number of bluetooth devices, and then, have a good look at that number! Or maybe you have nothing else better to do 🙂

@C0n57an71n It has worked quite well in early 90's at the beginning of GNU/Linux on PC. Everybody was happy to know that a specific network card (NE2000 by example) was working in specific conditions. It was far better than noting.

My Aeroscope works pretty well with UT, though the app is not very nice yet.

I think listing the working products is a good solution.
But most issues appears on headset for hand-free calls as Stefano stated.

I guess regular speaker are less useful here as I think (I may very well be wrong) that there are way less problems with such devices. At least I never experienced any trouble with the few devices I tried to connect.

@AppLee @C0n57an71n Right. The main issue with bluetooth headsets is still due to some compatibility issues between the versions of bluez and pulseaudio that are in 16.04 and which we rely on. It should hopefully get better with a move to 20.04, simply due to the newer versions of those packages. We should also be able to add BLE battery status support after the upgrade, for example.

Not the same for me, I have experienced trouble with at least one BT speaker in the past months.

@libremax I should probably add that the app is not really "available" for UT yet, and also that it is not a "drone system." It's an oscilloscope. 🙂

@libremax On my Aquaris M10 HD with OTA-14 a JBL Clip2 works as speaker, but not as microphone.

@libremax Isn't better to host as well a link to an Excell on cloud that people could fill themselves, lines would be the BT devices, column would be the UT devices and the intersection would be comments on how it works?

Not currentlly. The Aeroscope app is open source and written with Qt. I have been able to build and run it on a PC and on UT, but it's not a particularly great experience yet given the design. Sadly the hardware/firmware wasn't open sourced, and the company seems to no longer exist, but if you can get one (CrowdSupply may still have some in stock), it's definitely a neat little scope that can fit in a pocket.
