I have the Note 20 Ultra - N986U (Snapdragon)
I'm willing to Beta if you'll support the build.

@beachwolfe There's a lot of work to do that you can have a look here to see what is required https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2068/halium-first-steps you could have a go yourself but it's not straight forward from what I have picked up.

@lakotaubp thank you... agreed... I reviewed and was hoping someone might have gotten a jump on the process.
-
@beachwolfe - Given that this is an Android 10 device - I don't think Halium 9 porting will work with it - perhaps someone with experience porting can confirm that or not.
Best regards,

@totalsonic Would need downgrading to 9 at least I think same as gsi ones
-
@beachwolfe wondering if now in 2024 someone had made it so we can use our note 20s with Ubuntu???
-
@thereverend If it existed, it would be listed proudly on the devices page.

@Moem Is this project stalled out? I dont see any new devices since my last post in Jan. Really need to get this development started as it seems like the only phones supported are super old devices that no one wants to have any more and are not being supported by most carriers now. I have ZERO programming experience but seems like someone could def. make this work on Note 20 Ultra 5g.

You mean Ubuntu Touch? Hell no. New devices have been added since January. And some interesting ones are in the works... I happen to know about Fairphone 5. Now that is a great and recent device.

Ahem. I'm happily using such a super old device on a daily basis.

@thereverend, please note the All Devices page, not just the Promoted/Supported Devices. There are many good options in there.
Also note, UT runs very nicely on older phones. I like this for the low cost of used phones, but even moreso because I find the amount of waste involved in getting a new phone every few years kinda gross.I'm also humming along happily on a Oneplus 5T from 2017. 128gb, 8gb ram, good camera, headphone port.. what more do I need? I just replaced the battery, now it runs for days!
UT doesn't run on the device you have because nobody's done the work. As was stated above, it's plenty of work to make it all run properly on a given device, and this is mostly a community of volunteers, with a lot of important things to work on. You can learn a lot, work hard. and you can be the person to make it work on the Note 20.
My advice though is that if you want to try Ubuntu Touch, read through the All Devices page thoroughly, find a device that suits you and is available and affordable in your area used, and try it out!
