        Hi, I'm currently using PureMaps for navigation, but it doesn't manage to get my GPS position. 'Checked the settings (Location On, PureMaps authorized), restarted the Nexus5 several times, let PureMaps run for ages with the rotating progress circle turning endlessly...

        I couldn't find any useful advice to solve this, any hints?
        Is your Nexus5 GPS working with other navigation apps?

        Thanks!

          @ozfig Do you know if GPS is working on your device? Try uNav and set the Lock when idle in System Settings, Battery to never and leave the N5 by a window or better still outside for 20-40 mins for a first fix.It will be a lot quicker after that. I only say to use uNav as I know it worked on my N5 and other devices and I haven't tried Pure Maps.

            @lakotaubp Excellent Lako, I'm on it! I'll let you know 😁 👍

            Edit: just let the phone on the window sill for 10 minutes, and it got a fix!
            Just with PureMaps, did not install uNav (yet)

            Problem solved, thanks a lot!

              @ozfig It can not emphasised too often that first fix takes a long time, up to 40 minutes if the signal is poor. For your information it works on my Nexus 5 with both Puremaps and Unav.

                @cliffcoggin Cliff, how often is a fix the first fix? Is it the first after installation, or after rebooting, or after a certain time?

                  @moem Let me say that I have not the slightest knowledge of how it works, but from my observations I believe first fix is when the phone location has changed between turning off a GPS application and restarting it. My speculation is that the device first searches at the last known location, before widening the search area if that is unsuccessful. That is the only way I can account for the way my phone quickly (five minutes) finds itself at home where I use it often, but takes up to 30 minutes if I start it in a different location. If I am wrong I am happy to be corrected by anybody with real knowledge.

                      Make sure you have wifi on (as it needed). I get better results on my Arale when I start moving.

                      Edit: I forgot I have my nexu 5 here. It took 8 minutes to get my position (using uNav but I don't think that's relevant)
