It's time for another Community Update! These are livestreams where UBports developers come together to answer your questions and chatter about the recent project news. This week we'll be discussing the amazing OTA-2 and some new experiments.
Episode 13 (for real this time) of the UBports Community Update will be live this Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1800 UTC. You can find the countdown and stream on the Youtube event page.
Please feel free to ask questions in this thread and we'll try our best to answer them!
Here are some things we won't answer, though:
- The status of bugs
- Any question (or permutation of a question) in our FAQ
We'll see you when we're live!
-
Did you contact the pursim guys (Librem 5)?
What's the status?
Someone claimed that they expect ubports to contact. Was it popey?!Any thoughts about scopes?

Est-il possible de créer des applications imprimante et scanner (comme par exemple camscanner sur android)? En native sous ubports?
Et encore beau travail pour ota 2.
Pour ma part tout fonctionne sur la M10ENGLISH
Is it possible to create printer and scanner applications (such as camscanner on android)? In native under ubports? And still work for ota 2.
For my part everything works on the M10 -
I'd love to hear what's in scope for OTA-3, and how things are progressing towards Halium / Xenial.
-
I'd like to know about a progress in Halium, Xenial on Oneplus 3/3t, Oneplus 5. Is there an experimental build available to try or not just yet? Is there any estimated date for it? Thanks.

Are there any hopes for fixing connectivity (telephony signal, mobile data) related bugs on Pro 5? My phone is VERY unreilable in this matter and I believe bugs like that should be the first ones to be fixed, as they affect the core functionality of a phone.
I've created proper tasks on GitHub, however they are not tagged for OTA-3.

It would be great to showcase your great work done on Ubuntu Touch also on recent slimport-enabled devices that can better handle desktop apps and convergence.
Could you please update the porting guide with the steps required to provide the aarch64 rootfs?
This is related to issue 18 of Halium projectmanagement. I understand that this issue might not be on top of your priority list, but with this guide at hand, people could help and make ports for their own devices, without having to empirically recover the knowledge some of you may already have gained on this issue.

How do you see the chances for Ubuntu Touch offering full device encryption ... in the not-so-far future?
-
@kalle.kruse Ah, this has also been mentioned in the OTA3 wishlist thread: https://forums.ubports.com/post/4166
Then perhaps on more general terms: What will happen to all the feature requests in that thread?

MerciENGLISH
Hello everyone,
I encounter a small problem on the video player, the movies freeze and the player does not recognize all formats.
On convergence: Gimp works, firefox too. Problem with freeoffice, it starts then goes off and VLC does not recognize the videos, only the music.
My question:
will there be a fix?
Thank you -

I have the same question. What I'd most like to understand are what the obstacles might be to enabling filesystem encryption. Is it (conceptually at least) as simple as compiling cryptsetup and the luks kernel modules and installing them in the initramfs, with a small software keyboard perhaps derived from postmarketOS's recent work, or does the architecture of UBPorts, with the containerized Android components pose some special problems, and if so, what?

In the OP:
Here are some things we won't answer, though:
- The status of bugs
Please see this repository to report or check on the status of bugs in Ubuntu Touch.
-
I did, however I see no movement. I just wanted to ask if there is any chance these bugs will ever be fixed.

@contraire I have been using Luks encrypted partitions on Ubuntu Touch for a few years and there are some notes on this here, I've just got a OpenPlus One (I did have a 8GB Nexus 4) and now I have space to setup a encrypted Debian Stretch chroot so I'm having a play with that...
