OpenStore question

Hi, I noticed while browsing openstore there are some apps that are no longer available. I figured they are not maintained anymore? But I also wonder how does OpenStore choose which apps are appropriate.

This one's a emulator, Im curious who has the power to say yes to an app and who doesn't. As i could see maybe some things to be illegal or copyright infringement. Or adult and so on.

Also would one have to use libertine to install apps around openstore if their app was blocked?

@unrealb2 I thought it was rather the old 15.04 framework that is now incompatible(?) and thus apps not updated are not shown any longer? Another factor might be 64bit support.

Like said @poVoq 15.04 apps are no longer compatible.
Nobody ported LaiNES to 16.04.

OpenStore app (on the device) will try to show you apps available for your current framework and architecture.

The OpenStore team has the last word on content. If you're is confined will probably have no problems uploading it. If it doesn't infringe the rules before.
User can complain to the OpenStore team if illegal content is uploaded or ask to mark NSFW for adult content apps, and case will get reviewed.

Unconfined apps must get reviewed first for the team providing source code before they are published.

Adult content has to be marked as NSFW and will not be shown by default on the store app. To show NSFW content on the OpenStore app go to settings and switch off «Hide adult content» toggle.

No. Libertine is thought to install deb packages build for the device architecture.
You can install any app locally on your device through the OpenStore app or UT Tweak Tool. This is not recommended if you are new to Linux, you don't know the code of the app or click comes from untrusted sources but the device is yours.

@cibersheep Thank you for your thorough answer, I like the idea of the openstore but I remember hearing concerns for snap packages because of their centralized nature. My understanding is because you have to be approved simliar to ios or android.

I'd assume because OpenStore's opensourced problems like these are alot less likely.
