We are back with Ubuntu Touch Q&A 101 this Saturday 5th of June at 19:00 UTC. Things are still the same with the usual Ubuntu Touch development, updates and answers to questions. Forum questions will get priority so post them here before the event or Youtube Livechat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHs05IxQqmY and Telegram during the live show.

Please remember that questions on porting to device **** or it's status, and questions on bugs will not be answered

          Dear all,
I have several questions. Sorry if it looks a bit random :

-I have seen that NFC is working with Android 9 base devices. Do you plan to open NFC with older Android base devices (e.g. 4.2) ? Is it in the pipeline ?

-Will Ubuntu 20.04 update (smoothly) run with old UT devices or do users need to think about a newer cell phone ?

-Android debug menu (like *#2663# command,…) does not exist on UT. Is it relevant for « normal user » to implement something similar with infos about battery/CPU/sensors... statuts ?

          Thanks, and nice job!

Disclaimer 😄 : English is not my native language and I understand only very basics from coding etc.

            Long story short:
I am so happy with your work that I actually bought UT phones to everyone in my small company and we are example that it adapts fine to corporate needs.

I understand how Ubports is working so you must take my question just as a question (absolutely 0% demand or stress)
How difficult it is to build password manager to Morp browser and is there any plans on it?
Because in my point of view that is the barrier why I am not recommending UT to my friends. Personally I can live with current situation because I am fanboy.

Potabi devs plan to "start porting Lomiri to Potabi" in August, 2021.

              Heard of them?

              Working with them?

@gizmochicken Have you ever seen their previous projects? Potabi won't be user ready distribution any soon, their schedule is unworkable on time with such a small team. I think we shouldn't expect anything from this project before official release

What is or will be the actual lifecycle of supported devices of UT? I mean supportwise. For example: Android is avg 2-3 years, ios is avg 3-4 years.
Just asking this because it is interesting: now supported mobiles range from 10 years to more recent Models.
Also, will the 'bountyhunter' like plans of Alfred come tot life this year? 😉

How is the work on the Ubuntu Touch Flatpak Runtime going on?
                    What help is needed?
In the description you said some apps already work fine. what are these apps?

Make the UT apps compatible/usable in other distro is a way to make the development of ut app more appealing to the developers (wider userbase).... is this a project that will have priority any time soon?

                    PS:since unfortunately I missed the 100th Q&A because I was at my grandmother's funeral, I wish you all happy 100th Q&A now!! :party_popper: :party_popper: :party_popper:

Is there a roadmap for technical newcomers to Ubuntu Touch (who have some familiarity with Linux) to help with low-level fixes, etc? If there was a way for volunteers to help that was obvious I am sure people would join on.)

Sorry if this question was asked before

Is there any progress about GPU (and WebGL) for the Volla (or other smartphones) or is work on hold?
Which OTA can be considered for implementation ?
