No ringtone with dora for incoming calls, all other sounds work
-
Re: Sony Xperia X boot and no incoming call ringtone sound issues @lakotaubp I got a fresh installation with dora (OTA-18) and the same issue. It seems the "trigger" isn't given when calls are incoming, as everything else works (sound for incoming messages, ringtone when choosing it in the menu etc.). Can I send any logfiles / other infos to help you with the analysis ?
By the way, this issue doesn't exist on suzu / Sony Xperia X (F5121 & F5122), my mother uses this model. -
@smithe I cannot really help with this as I do not own one. You can use Logviewer (from OpenStore) to create logs and paste the link here, or check the help section on the device page https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/jasmine-sprout/ there may be something there.
-
@lakotaubp I assume this logfile ? http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/P3DcvmtgWY . The "unity8" threw an error message ("Error occured uploading to pastebin"). How does the function work to initiate the ringtone ? Is there something I could check / compare with the suzu device ? It is especially strange as the other tones work (incoming email and similar notifications).

I also miss my ringtone since a few weeks/months on an entirely different device, Nexus 6P. I can only say the cause is unknown, and we even do not know how to debug it
-
@flohack Seems strange to me, as everything else is working (vibration, "wakeup" of the screen on incoming calls). Also all other notification tones work. Can't it be checked whether the "initiation" of the ringtone is at least done (in a logfile or path) and probably there's a problem to launch the respective tool to play the sound ?
I got a strage behavior of mine "besides". An individual ringtone is shown in the "Music" app (as in the music folder). But ordinary mp3 music in the same path won't show/play with the "Music" app, but only with "Media player". So I could imagine the "trigger" comes, but the activation of the sound module might be missing ? Which of the "logviewer" files should be checked for which parameters to clarify this ? Do you know any documentation link how to do so ? -
@smithe Its probably a permission issue why it cant be player. Is it a custom ringtone or a system ringtone?
-
@flohack it happens with both. And the ringtone plays when choosing it, just not on incoming calls. So I wondered whether the "trigger" isn't done for calls (all sounds work for other notifications such as incoming message). Any idea where I could check that ?
-
@smithe well the telephony stack is the most complicated stack besides camera. I dont know it myself, probably @lduboeuf can help with that. But, I warn you, it wont be easy, and since this works on most devices, it will be superhard to find out. As I said its probably a permission problem with the 100 processes invovled in calling ^^
-
@flohack I'll give it a try. Otherwise I'd always have to carry a spoon to put it on the display when the phone is on the table, to be noticed by the vibration ?

@lduboeuf , where shall I start to investigate ? Do you've got a link to documentation how the ringtone trigger should work ?
-
I can confirm now my ringtone works again on Halium 7.1, seems just it had a too silent intro ^^ after using a bit more upbeat song it is again fully ok
-
@flohack I have the same problem on my F8131 since my first installation about 3 weeks ago. Now all upgraded to actual "stable"-state, and the issue still exists. Also have raised the loudness of the ringtone in the settings to "Max", but without any effect.

This is an issue, since I installed ubports first time on my Sony Xperia / Dora. Sometimes, after updating ubports, the vibration alarm also is gone, but returns after next update.
I'd like to contribute analyzing this issue. Is there a developer, who can give some hints, where to look for? Any answer is appreciated.
I've made two snapshots of the media-hub logs; one, while the ringtone is playing when selected, and one with incoming call. Seems not much difference to me. The call is "playing" in a loop.
Posting the logs with LogViewer to past-bin did not work. Is there another way to provide the logs, except posting it here?
Just updated to latest ubports:

Same problem here on two Sony Xperia Performance-phones.
Is there any way to get this working? -
Dora no sound on incoming call. Logviewer:
telephony-service-indicator: "a source with id 'telephony-service -indicator' doesn't exist
indicator-sound: "ActUserManager : user (null) has no username object path: /org/freedesktop/Accounts/user32011, uid: 0)
Where i should look for info?

@mcslibinas Reinstalled UBports and now i have vibration on call, it's more than silence, yet still no ringtone.
-
@mcslibinas we do not need much info, we k now that in many cases when this happens the porter has to modify some Android settings, config files, or even patch the Audio HAL parts in the Android tree. Unless someone steps up to fix this properly it is not easy. Plus one needs a device to test it out.

@coinflow Hi I have just started Touch on a F8131 and also have no ring tone on incoming calls. I have a vibration only. Did you manage to get an answer to this problem?
