Connect to internet through USB
-
Hello,
Is it possible to connect to the internet through USB ?
I am using a USB C dock that is connected to my router via ethernet and connected to my phone (Oneplus 2) running Ubuntu Touch via usb c but I was unable to access my local network or the internet this way.
Should this work? it works with my Android phone by the way. Thanks for your insights

It seems like it's a Oneplus devices issue.
Couldn't find someone who managed to do this for sure even on Android with a Oneplus device. Thanks guys

There are some posts ab it, you need the UT Tweak Tool app, go to System and ADB/USB Settings and enable RNDIS
I believe i had working on my FP2 previously fyi -
@tera Thanks for you reply but that is not the same use case as the one you are referring to.
II don't want to share my phone connection with another device connected to my phone.
I would like to connect my phone to my router thus the Internet via a usb c dock which is connected to my phone via usb c and to my router via ethernet.

Not all USB docks work with all phones. In my experiences, a OTG cable (the ones from OnePlus are ok) plus a USB-2 to Ethernet converter is a more stable setup. It works on my Cosmo Communicator, but not on my OnePlus 3T.

@sven Yes it may be because of Oneplus' 2 USB C port.
I haven't tried it when I had Android on my Oneplus 2 so I can't know if it is a hardware issue or software. -
@al7iss Maybe you can try searching if it works on Android. Sadly there are devices that don't support this. My tablet doesn't have OTG too.
