Carriers
-
 @melu9wuv Any GSM carrier will work for phone calls, and we can add Verizon once VoLTE works. For AT&T - Red Pocket, H2O, Straighttalk. Some have had success with Cricket. For T-mobile - anything is good. Mint is cheap, US Mobile, walmart family mobile, just about any will do.

 @rocket2nfinity very helpful, thanks. any work better than others when it comes to SMS?
-
 @melu9wuv Still being worked on.Those who have had success, have done so with AT&T MVNOs with cellular set to 3G. But, we're very close to fixing the problem with all GSM carriers.
-
 @rocket2nfinity thank you. I wish to be as helpful and informative to others one day, assisting others in their flight from big tech to open source like UBT. Power to the people.
-
 @melu9wuv note that in the US, any T-Mobile or AT&T provider seems to be working well now. You can keep cellular data at 4G mode and send / receive SMS and MMS reliably, and of course calls are working fine. What doesn't work is MMS when on wifi, this is a separate bug broader than just Pixel 3a phones.
-
 @rik Thank you, that is very helpful to note.
-
 @rik messaging on my 3a through RedPocket GSMA is send only--not receiving. Have checked MMS and AT&T internet (and unchecked latter, also), stopped wifi, set to 3G and slower, all to no avail. Do I need to change APN settings or what else could I try?
-
 @melu9wuv Are you using Ubuntu Touch from the devel or rc channel? Stable (default) doesn't have the fixes in yet.
-
 @fredldotme I'm not sure which is which--I downloaded and flashed my phone from the Ubuntu Touch site for GP3a.
-
 @melu9wuv
 You can see it in settings for updates, and even more precisely in about settings :

-
 @keneda I see better now. It is on stable. Should I try Development or RC instead?
-
 @melu9wuv yes, you need RC (changes less often) or Development (changes daily) to get the fixes for SMS when you have 4G / LTE enabled. So from the screenshot where you see "Canaux - Stable" click there to choose RC (recommended). After that, go "back" and it should prompt you to "Download and Install" (will then reboot and install RC).
-
 @rik Thank you! I had no idea. Like I said previously in another thread, I hope to be as much help to others soon as you are to me now!
-
 @melu9wuv Sorry I didn't have my notifications set up correctly, I wasn't intending to ignore you. Anyway, please move to "RC" channel and let us know an update.
-
 @rik no, it's okay. MMS works now. Thanks!
-
 @melu9wuv I use Telcel, a.k.a America Mobile a.k.a. AT&T in U.S.A. a.k.a. A lot lf different companies in the rest of the American Continent(Not only USA or Canada)
-
 @rocket2nfinity any news on VoLTE?
-
 @fisha
 VoLTE is not already working on any phone or carrier.
 On day it will.

 @rik I'm trying a Google Fi SIM in my 3a. It configures itself as T-Mobile. I reboot with wifi off. I can MMS photos fine, but when they are sent to me, from the same number I send to, it comes in to x-ofono-unknown, in other words, an unknown number. I was messing with this mostly in the development channel, and I when I received MMS I just got a delivery failure with the block of characters, but when I switched to the RC channel, I can receive to unknown number.

 I bought a Red Pocket SIM, since success was reported with given APN numbers in the Halium 9 Bounty thread in this forum. I have success! MMS, group text, works. I want to provide a bit of the detail for me. I'm in the Boulder, CO, USA area. Red Pocket gives APN information on their website:
 https://help.redpocket.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042491332The APN name is different there compared to the Bounty thread (which gives PRODATA). That doesn't seem to matter. The MMS Proxy entry does matter. I found that the hostname didn't work, but the IP address did. There was a suggestion around here that this might work better with WiFi OFF. I found that REPLIES from other phones to my group text (MMS) initiated from my P3a FAILED with WiFi OFF. When I turn WiFi ON, then group text replies SUCCEED. Odd that MMS would fail to be processed correctly on the P3a when WiFi is off. I can't get my Google Fi SIM to work. It's got to be something about the APN settings. I think it's on the same network, but maybe GSMA with Google Fi might be on a network that doesn't work in my location? Maybe it's using T-Mobile and Red Pocket is using ATT? I don't know.
