Hi there
I got a Meizu MX4 still running Vivid completely Out Of The Box and wanted to install the Terminal app, however i get an error when trying to download it from: https://open-store.io/app/com.ubuntu.terminal/versions
Would anybody have it handy by any chance?
Cheers,
Tera -
Hi @tera
You'll need to update your version of Ubuntu Touch.
Or you can try to manually download this version:
https://open-store.io/api/v3/apps/com.ubuntu.terminal/download/vivid/undefined/0.8.latestBut I strongly advise that you update to the latest stable channel.

@applee said in Vivid Terminal App not available on Open Store:You'll need to update your version of Ubuntu Touch.
This. MX4 works pretty well with last ubports uTouch version, and you need it to have all apps up to date and working.

Moved thread to Arale's subcategory

@applee the link do not work, and why i opened this thread, it complains about the channel not being valid...
The phone USB do not work either so was thinking of tempting an over the air kinda upgrade but need the terminal for that actually
Openstore click app would do as well i guess but link is not working either for Vivid, last i tried and just confirmed as we speak

I don't think you can OTA update from last canonical uTouch version to last ubports one.
You need to use ubports installer.
Maybe you should try to find a spare usb board. -
@keneda agreed, planned to use/adapt from this tuto: https://forums.ubports.com/post/47969
I already kept the recovery install files for OTA18 required from another install on top of Android, same device obviously, fyi
Ps: i also tried many USB cable/laptop/sbc... without luck over the years
but maybe that solution i think of would allow to upgrade it and make an up to date hw based non Data over USB device -
@tera This thread is about unlocking bootloader of android mx4 to install utouch on it, don't know if it's a good idea to mess with this on an already unlocked mx4.
Anyway yoy can check here : https://gitlab.com/ubports/apps/terminal-app/-/tree/vivid
I didn't find the clicks but i'm pretty sure they are somewhere.
Again, you should try to change the MX4 USB board.

@keneda aha thanks, at least i could try to build it, great stuff!
I can't be bothered ab replacing the USB board tbh, it charges at least so usable and even more private/secure huh
Ab the tuto, the last steps involve pushing manually the files from the installer to the recovery, could do that from a Terminal and reboot to recovery and upgrade i believe...

Oups I didn't check the link. Sorry.
I would try to replace the USB module like Keneda suggested and upgrade to Ubuntu Touch by UBports...
Best of luck
