      Hello,

today I made a battery drain test to post the result in a github issue. Around midnight I turned mobile/cellular data ON and put the phone on idle. During day the phone was all the time on idle, just made 2-3 calls (together 2 mnutes). No sms/mms were sent or received, no telegram messages. After approximately 19 hours, I wanted to make a phone call and I couldn't, cause of insufficient credit (I have a prepaid card). I was sure, that there should be enough credit, so I checked the datamonitor app and found out, that during the cellular ON time (19 hours), the phone downloaded 4.5MB of data, and depleted my credit (I'm lucky there was only 2EUR). I'm confused, Is this now normal?

If I recall correctly, I made a lot of tests with cellular ON before, but It never downloaded anything, until I made some action.

Note: In actualization settings, the automatic updates downloads are on "Wi-Fi only".
Edit: The phone is FP2 (halium-5.1), on RC channel (v128).

@jezek Do you have Dekko installed, or any other network connected app that maybe had suspension disabled?

No, dekko is not installed nor any other networking app that has suspension disabled was running.

It's a common mistake to think that if you don't use DATA that there will be no traffic at all : There will be! Especially when you are Roaming! πŸ˜‰

This has been a huge issue in the past for many providers in Europe during the summer when people started going on vacations and then come home and see a € 50+ bill in their mailbox! 😞

            My phones :

            • BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Phone Edition - Ubuntu Touch 16.04 LTS
            • ZUK Z2 Pro - ZUI Android 8.x
            • Xiaomi Mi 9T - Jolla SailFish 3.4.x Community Build

            P.S. : I am NOT a developer! ;)

I did numerous tests on battery consumption in the past and large portion of them were tests where I leaved mobile DATA ON and Wi-Fi OFF for few days. I never spotted data consumption on idle on this scale (9MB in a day). Something got more data hungry.

I have to use some network monitoring command, which can tell me, who is generating traffic (does anybody know one?) and investigate, because I really think such data consumption cannot happen on idle (without browsing, MMSing or telegram message sending/receiving).

Or am I wrong and 10MB a day is OK for these times? What is the threshold?

@jezek If the information is any help I used 0.9 MB in six hours (= 3.6 MB per day) on a completely idle Nexus 5 today.
