Can I use the Axolotl (Signal) OpenStore app with the Signal Flatpak on Debian?
-
Hi.
Are these 2 compatible? I've set up the Axolotl app. I then ran the Signal program on Debian. It gave me a QR code. I scanned it with the Tagger app and it opened it with Axolotl - although, I'm not sure if it did anything.
Edit: I just discovered this Flatpak. Should I use this (https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.nanuc.Axolotl) and can then chat/msg others on Signal?
Thanks.

@opolork : I believe you can combine 1 mobile and 1 desktop Signal instance. You cannot combine several mobile instances, as starting 1 would deactivate the other.
If you want to communicate with Signal users, Axolotl on your UT phone is enough. You don't need another phone app or desktop app for that.
Axolotl is not as feature-rich as the official Signal app yet, but I am happy with it.
Best place to ask Signal / Axolotl related questions is on the official Axolotl-dev Telegram group, link is on the Axolotl.chat website. -
@alter Thank you.

That is fully correct!
You can however have several desktop instances linked to one mobile instance (which can be Axolotl or Signal).Personally I have Axolotl on my phone linked to desktop Signal on my laptop and desktop, and it all communicates fine.
Axolotl allows me to communicate while out and about; the other two give me all the features that desktop Signal offers. All in all, this solution works well for me. -
@moem : thanks for the added info.

Hi @moem. Do you mean you can also have several instances of Desktop Axolotl in use with 1 instance of a Signal or Axolotl phone app?

That is a good question and in fact it's such a good question that I don't know the answer! I have never tried that. Is there even a separate desktop application for Axolotl? I know that it can run on a desktop/laptop..
