@keneda said in Questions before using UT on an ongoing basis.:

But for that, device has to support VoLTE, wich N5 is not, and P3a is.

I'm pretty sure Nexus 5 can do VoLTE if running the latest radio firmware on it, and Android 6 or newer.

I suspect that I am among the last one in here that uses mine N6P as a daily driver. This means that there is little to none work going in to this device. This makes me guessing that the N6P will not make the move to 20.04. There are some hardware issues with this phone too, the biggest issue is that some of the phones have badly soldered cpu:s that makes the phone dropp the 4 big cores. There is another issue with the battery making the phone go in to a none ending bootloop. It is not impossible to change the battery, but it is not for the faint hearted. It has some problems with bluetooth and for a while now, when my battery goes below 50% and gets an incomming call, it hard crashes and the phone reboots, I don't konw if it is a hardware- or software failiure. I have used my phone for a couple of years now and over all I have been very pleased with the experience. I have been lucky to have a phone without the hardware failiures. but I have changed the battery once and it seems that maybe it needs a new one soon.

          1. Probably, it is based on Ubuntu so...
          2. No, you will need to run it through a Libertine container running a terminal.
          3. Don't know.
          4. The list gets longer for every month that goes by. 5G is coming and it needs the bandwith.

I searched a bit and it seems it has hardware to support, but i didn't find any clue that it was enabled by Google.

I hope you're right, and that it gets 20.04 even ?

What I have read on the internet is that Google haven't activated volte in their version of android. But if you install a custom rom that supports volte, it works. But it supports it only on specific bands, depending where in the world the phone comes from and where in the world you live, read this post for little more info:

Yes, that quora thread was part of the results i found.

That means UT port on N5 should use some custom rom not from google or lineage.

Anyway, it's up to Ubports devs to decide ^^
