Sony Xperia X shows full support in the list but I see a thread saying calls do not work. How do I know what really works?

Also I'm seeing things like basic features randomly stop and need a reboot to come back.

Is there more than the "supported list" to know if it will be a good idea to put Ubuntu Touch on my phone (Sony Xperia X)?

Here's the thread saying calls do not work (not connecting to 4GLTE):

I'm not currently using my Xperia X but calls were never a problem when I was. But it does depend on where you are and what types of mobile connectivity your provider is offering you.

In the thread you are referring, the Xperia X is not the problem. VoLTE is the problem.

I'm in the US so figured on using 4G towers. Unfortunately 3G is off. I was still using a 2010 Samsung Galaxy S (original) to a certain extent until 3G was shut off this year. That 2010 phone was my longest lasting Samsung phone and I've had most of the S generations up to around 2016. Most have failed in either software or hardware and ALL of course needed to be opened up for batteries.

I figured I'd try another brand and Sony seems to be on par in quality with Samsung... maybe better.

Not really, but you can also look through the device's forum section. I've just moved your topic there, by the way.

I use an Xperia X as my main phone and SMS and calls work fine. I would recommend some newer and higher spec phone though if you intend to also use it for other stuffs like browsing the internet.
Since you're in the US though, calls might not work since VoLTE isn't implemented yet.

So I take it browsing the internet doesn't work?

No, you take it like it will be slower than on a newer phone.

But hey, i browse the net with a 8 years old hardware MX4 with no problem...

I have a 10 year old PC (running Xubuntu) and it works great for browsing and other activities. No thought of upgrading since it's been a great machine.

Phones seem to not be able to even browse at all after about 5-8 years or so. Has to be something to keep people having to upgrade. I know it's not the web itself because I have a website that is older than smart phones and even that will no longer load. So it must be from Android's end or Samsung's end. Maybe Ubuntu has a way to fix this.

@777funk No, I just meant don't expect good and smooth experience if you heavily browse the internet. I personally have many tabs always open in the browser and even 8GB of RAM on an S10 is starting to struggle with Twitter always open 😅 Xperia X is fine if you don't use it much for multitasking and heavy tasks 👍
