        My Redmi Note 7 is down from around 23Gb free to now 1.8Gb free on storage being used by the system. Is any one else having this issue? Is there an update cache I can clear easily? (I do the updates through the installer and I am on the RC channel.) I have 3 files of my own on it, all the rest is the available apps.

            @kristatos Yep, that looks normal. I want to see if it is a bug before I reinstall.

              @mrt10001 Isn't there a clear cache option somewhere on the installer?

              Edit.

              Tools -> Clean cached files

              But is this for the phone or the PC?

                  @mrt10001 Can you check /var/log/syslog?
                  Sometimes that file gets spammed with errors/warnings and build up its size.

                    @kugiigi That looks like the issue. There are multiple log files that have built up. I would like to delete them, but it is how and how to do it correctly. One side of all operating systems that annoys me as a user. I can understand as a developer or system admin, but as a user they take up space unnecessarily and should be deleted over time. I lost a good SSD to pFsense logging on my VPN router which filled it up, but the constant writes took it's life. All I needed to have done was tick a box to disable logging and it would have lived.

                    So is there any way to remove the logs from:

                    var/log/journal

                    var/log/lightdm.log

                      Reinstalled ticking the "wipe" button the installer, all back to normal.

                        @mrt10001 Usually those logs are cleared automatically. Possibly there's an undetected bug in your device. Next time maybe try to see the contents of the biggest log files 😄

                          @kugiigi I will monitor it since I have done a fresh install. If it raises issues again, I will look at manual deletions through terminal. My OnePlus 5T doesn't have this issue which I put down to using the installer to update, which I didn't do with the Redmi Note 7 (loads of failed updates).
