Telegram on BQ M10 HD Tablet UT r15
-
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I've just installed Telegram and I have been able to send and receive a few messages but there seem to be a few problems. I searched Support and noticed other users have had problems and received advice. However, I'm concerned that the suggested fixes may now be out of date.
I should point out that I've also installed Telegram on my android phone and that seems to be working fine.
The problems that I've noticed with the UT version are as follows:
-
Eternal spinning symbol in contacts window;
-
If I try to add a contact such as @flohack, nothing happens.
So my question is what is the current advice on how fix these problems? I specifically installed Telegram as it was apparent that this is the preferred communication tool of the Ubports community, so I'm sure most users have got it working properly.
By the way, I really enjoy using Ubuntu Touch on my tablet.

Hello,
well currently you can only add contacts that have been imported from the address book of your phone. Thats a limitation but some day we will fix it. So if your address book is empty, and the contact list in Telegram is empty too, you will get the endless spinner probably. I think its a symptom of them same problem. However, feel free to report it as enhancement issue in our tracker https://github.com/ubports/telegram-app/issues

Hello Florian, seems like I can't message you via Telegram unless I use my android phone since you're not already in my address book. I can't add you to my address book manually since I don't have your phone number. In my opinion this defeats one of the major advantages of Telegram. What's your opinion?

It does of course. But I am in a few things more busy than being able to fix this immediately. But I will raise its priority
