Bacon goes focal!

@Flohack Just installed 20.04. Love that I didn't have to disable the camera to install this time, and it set date/time correctly instead of 1970!
(Still getting open-cuts certificate error, confirmed the existing issue in github.)
Wifi/internet/Morph all working.
Tapping the power button to turn off the screen opens the Power menu (like a long press) and it is still there when you turn the screen back on.
Will do more testing as time permits.

Is that an issue ?
I mean, i don't remember another behavior on my phones, even if power buttons acts exactly like it should (short press screen off, half long press power menu, loonnng press power off).

I realise now both these points may be less about the installer and more about differences in how I have installed/setup. 1. First/last time I ran ubports-installer on this device, it was from CyanogenOS to UT Xenial. This time was Xenial to Focal, so the camera was no longer blocking the ability for the installer to recognise the device. 2. This was the first time for any install I have entered Wifi details in the Getting Started phase, which is obviously how the device detects current date/time when setting up. On Android I am used to the system clock syncing with the phone network provider.

That part particularly, sounds like no, if that is the experience with other devices/versions. But what is also interesting is that when I let the screen lock due to inactivity, tapping the Power button to wake also opens the Power menu.
I haven't seen the battery drain as @MrT10001 describes, but I also haven't installed a SIM yet. For me, the battery seems to hold up better than on Focal with no SIM and Flight Mode off, than on Xenial with a SIM and Flight Mode on. (Did a whole work day at 75% and it is only falling now I am on wifi and the screen constantly on.)

This is a known issue for the OPO (as well as the PinePhone/Pro) on focal
-
@Lakotaubp No SIM yet, will try it with a SIM at some point.
-
@MrT10001 Also no battery drain for me. been on for 5hrs and battery at 64% no sim, wifi on. Cannot get update 51 to install though, even after clearing old update and connected to power.

Good to know. Where is the list of known issues?

You can find the link to issue tracker for each devices on its page, from UBports main site device list.
-
@Lakotaubp We fixed this issue, to get the change you'll need to run installer with bootstrap ticked (and wipe unticked if you want to preserve data) and then OTAs from there on out should work perfectly fine.
-
@Keneda Thanks. Even when you pointed me to it, it took me forever to see the link. It's there for OPO Xenial, but not OPO Focal. And it points to Github, but there's only 1 Open Project and its not Focal.
Having solved that riddle, I would guess to go look on Gitlab, but 117+ items match 'Focal'.
Can I be a pain and ask you to actually point me directly to the known issues for Focal on the OPO?

-
@Flohack Headphones work entirely as expected, but there is a crackle in the audio. 2 different headsets, and same device did not have the crackle when running Xenial.
-
No SIM (two of the devices I am testing on have non working SIM slots) and the battery drain on 3 devices is quick, which may point to:
a) old batteries
b) motherboard revision ( when I opened one of the devices up, a big red label on the board said ver 3.0)Updated today to r53 with no issues. Note: I would reboot a couple of times after install to speed things up.
WiFi connects to internet fine now. Swapped between my networks fine.
Camera still has issues.
-
@MrT10001 On my device Morph is not working. Its r53, Connection is Wifi, no Sim-card. Can you confirm?
-
To be fair, I am still on R50, but having no luck with my SIM. Toggled Flight Mode a number of times. Powered off, reseated the SIM and tried again.Toggled Flight Mode a number of times. Can only get 'Offline', 'Unregistered' and 'Unknown'. This is my primary SIM which is functional and was in this unit under Xenial.
-
@messayisto Toggle WiFi on and off, also try a different network then go back to your main one. It worked eventually.
Battery life still sucks.
However, it is in the early stages and to get this far on such an ol device is a phenomenal achievement.
-
@messayisto No mobile option at all om u53
Edit: A restart with sim in fixed that, So sim detected but no signal. Just installing u54, Carrier not detected. -
Ok installed on another OPO (number 4).
Installed r54. Install went flawlessly from Android. Charging it up, but so far ADB works, WiFi connects, sound is working.
-
Battery - 55% to 0% in less than an hour.
No extra apps installed, no SIM installed. Wifi is on.
-
@MrT10001 we are currently investigating the issue, seems that the wifi driver is constantly doing something making the device drain extremely quick. if wifi is left disconnected then my OpO lasts about 8-10 days
