(Mobile) Network Data Counter
-
Hi all,
I am new to UT (and to this forum), so please excuse, if I should be asking a stupid question (or violate some forum nettiquette).I am inklined to use UT as the primary OS on my phone, but I am missing an important feature (for me, at least) and could not find much information on the net so far:
Is there a counter for network traffic? Especially for traffic via the mobile network? I have a limited amount of network data in my mobile contract, so I would like to keep track of the amount I have used up already. Preferably something that I can reset to 0 at an arbitrary point in time (as my data limit is renewed every 4 weeks not aligned to calendar months).
The only thing I was able to find was this old thread: bandwidth counter for mobile data connection that talks about installing some CLI program for that purpose.
Is there something a little more convenient in the meantime?

@Gernulf
Hello and welcome here.
There is no stupid question when it comes to learn new things ^^
Check this app from openstore that could almost fullfill your needs : https://open-store.io/app/datamonitor.matteobelleiFor now you can not reset data in the app, but there is an ehancement issue to ask for custom periods of time, maybe you could add a comment there to refresh @matteo memory ^^

Hi @Keneda,
Thanks a lot for the hint! I just installed "datamonitor" and it looks promising. I'll try it. -

@Gernulf hi and thanks @Keneda for highlighting me this thread. I'm the developer of the app Keneda already sent the link to you. This app was originally developed to fill a gap in UT and I believe I accomplished to my own goal, as a minimum target. In the app, you will find the basic functionalities you might expect but not the chance to set the starting day for monitoring data or to reset the count. This is on my list though and I'll bring it in future to my app but cannot tell you when, right now. Problem is new UT version came out, i.e. 20.04, and until I cannot get that on my Pixel 3a, because that is my only phone and my daily driver so that I have to wait this becoming stable enough, I'll not be in the position to further work on my app. In addition, my intention is to embed this app straight into the OS instead of being a downloadable app from the store, so I need a strategy to implement that as well. Hope you'll enjoy my app and find it useful. Regards. Matteo

Very good intention ^^

@matteo Good idea to integrate it into the OS. But even in the current state, the app is very useful. Thanks a lot!
