In my search for a VoLTE solution for NEXUS 5 I came across this info which might help in the EU not where I am in the US.

Yes, that works to activate the appropriate bands, but it does not activate VoLTE. The N5 hardware is the first gen capable of VoLTE, but was not released with VoLTE radio software except in the China market. This is because it was not capable of circuit switched fallback. China was not using legacy switching when they built out their VoLTE network, so Google did release a VoLTE radio package for that market only. If someone could figure out how to modify that for other markets, then it could be possible if the other unsolved VoLTE issues are resolved.

@rocket2nfinity It supports 4G LTE on LTE Band 5 and that shows up in cellular settings with a Verizon SIM before I tried to activate the phone. I have a Nexus 5x working on Verizon and the settings matched. It' not that the phone wouldn't work it's just no longer supported.

I guess in the US at least they are no longer supporting phones that aren't 5G capable. I was offered a FREE phone at two shops I tried and online.
