@ktatar156 I agree completely.

RE: Devices discontinued?
@lakotaubp It would be nice to have VoLTE working on the Nexus 5 before you abandon it, after all it has the greatest number of Ubuntu Touch users of any single phone.

RE: Email Application
@domubpkm Structurally similar to the others, then it gets complicated.
- We don't offer phone apps because we believe they defeat privacy, instead we recommend a privacy centered browser like Tor.
- We are based in the United States, we believe that provides the best combination of freedom in how we operate and the user information we are required to keep.
- We don't believe we are immune to government surveillance you shouldn't believe anyone is. The highest level of security is between users on the same secure service.
- We are small and don't plan to become large, we have an adequate user base.

RE: Anyone try the i3 email client?
The app is not just a client it is a complete secure email service that includes mail, contact manager, calendar, encryption key manager and supports more than eighty languages. At signup you get an email account "username"@i3.net. Please complete the payment, you will not be billed for 30 days. The client can be used to send and receive email from most email providers by adding "Identities", this also masks your IP address as requests come from our servers not your device. We have been providing secure email since 1995.

Free Email
Free Email. One of the most searched for commodities on the internet. Which Free Email service is the “Best”? As the managing director of a company that has been providing email services for more than 27 years I recommend Gmail.
Gmail? Yes, Gmail. But don’t they collect, share and sell my metadata, don’t they profile, fingerprint and deliver targeted adds? Yes, they do, that’s how they make money.
Gmail also provides a high level of security for users, protecting them from spam and malware, in the case of spam it’s spam that hasn’t been paid for. Gmail is a feature rich service user friendly and attractive in many ways.
That is the model for Free Email. You get what you pay for.
Do I have a Gmail account? Yes I do, I also have an Apple Mail account and Outlook, and Yahoo and Proton Mail and several others, research.
Our Email service, @i3.net, is designed to be a primary personal email account. Our core users already have secure email accounts with the organizations or institutions they own or work for. Those accounts are monitored and restricted. Our service was born out of their need for secure personal Email.

RE: Status of VoLTE (Voice over LTE 4G) implementation?
Read section 2.1 of the sysmocom
systems for mobile communications GmbH
Ubuntu Touch VoLTE Investigation, Revision V1 July 22, 2021 and then read about the Purism Librem 5 phone which uses PureOs. A significant involvement of the device manufacturer is required to implement VoLTE. After that is accomplished a carrier has to be willing to activate the phone. Purism gets over the last hurdle with its AweSim. -
RE: Status of VoLTE (Voice over LTE 4G) implementation?
@jonsger said in Status of VoLTE (Voice over LTE 4G) implementation?:
Does someone know what happened to the work of Sysmocom for VoLTE on the Volla Phones: blog post and technical investigation report.
I'm currently running a Librem 5 with PureOS, which in theory has VoLTE support in the modem. But can't get it working with Deutsche Telekom (works with Vodafone DE). So I think for VoLTE we need a different solution in the long term, then relying on IoT modems with VoLTE support.
I would like to make a "kick-off" donation for "2.1 Open Source IMS Implementation" to the UBports Foundation. It's tax-deductible, so say something like 1.000€ So someone capable from Sysmocom or so can start working on it.
The carrier doesn't have to support a device(phone) just because the device conforms to its network. Purism Libtem 5 and PureOS are perfect examples. Purism offers what they call an AweSim that allows you to connect unsupported devices to their network details here https://puri.sm/products/librem-awesim/

RE: In my search for a VoLTE solution for NEXUS 5
@wizardi3
I guess in the US at least they are no longer supporting phones that aren't 5G capable. I was offered a FREE phone at two shops I tried and online. -
RE: In my search for a VoLTE solution for NEXUS 5
@rocket2nfinity It supports 4G LTE on LTE Band 5 and that shows up in cellular settings with a Verizon SIM before I tried to activate the phone. I have a Nexus 5x working on Verizon and the settings matched. It' not that the phone wouldn't work it's just no longer supported.

RE: Bring devs to UT
@arubislander said in Bring devs to UT:
... a fully viable and operational UT.
I think it is dependent on the device manufacturer more than the OS developer, which is why Volla is probably the best bet.
