Help with the ubuntu touch emulator.

@Brayan The Ubuntu Touch emulator has not been supported for a good while now
What about the PDK ?
-
@lduboeuf
What is that PDK? -
@Brayan It's this, but it seems like it would not be what you want:
https://github.com/ubports/ubports-pdk
It's not a good way to show Ubuntu Touch in normal usage. -
@Brayan said in Help with the ubuntu touch emulator.:
I'm researching Ubuntu Touch for a university presentation
Are you looking for some way of doing your own research for the presentation, or are you looking for a device / emulator to use in your presentation? Which is your most urgent need?
If you need it for the presentation then maybe a video or some screenshots would get you a long way? There is a VNC server app for the phone. Maybe we could setup something where you could operate one of mine remotely?
No idea what the latency would be like though ... -
How soon is your presentation, @Brayan? I have an old Oneplus One with Ubuntu Touch that I don't really need anymore. I think I'd be willing to send it for free, especially if you thought you might use the phone after the presentation.
But the only affordable shipping option is probably quite slow. I'm trying to figure out just how slow.. I think more than two weeks. And I don't know anything about tax/tariff/duty that could be involved between Canada and Costa Rica. -
@wally
Thank you very much for the offer but the presentation is more or less 1 week away and in addition in my country the mail system is very inefficient and the taxes are usually very high. -
I am considering for faster the option of @arubisleΓ±o to show captures and all the information available.
Likewise, if I could make a change of plans or have more time, I will contact you.
Thanks again. -
@arubislander
The professor left the research very open to what you want to present, the original intention was to develop 2 super basic applications for Ubuntu Toch and show them on the device.
Now we are considering rather the option that you gave of doing it only with the screenshots. The good thing is that we can show the applications running them on the computer.
Thanks for the help -
@arubislander
So I don't know if it would be possible for us to develop the applications and test them and just send those screenshots? as another option. -
@Brayan if it is basic applications you are looking to develop and showcase, then you don't even need a physical device.
With our tool, clickable, you can develop and run the applications on your (Ubuntu) Linux desktop. The experience will be very similar to that on a device.Here are some links to get you started:
-
@Brayan And if you still want to show the apps running on a device. When the apps are ready I can make a screen recording of the apps running on my phone and send you those to include in your presentation.
-
@arubislander thank you
-
@Brayan Rahter, thank YOU for helping spread awareness of Ubuntu Touch.
