Call for testing: Ubuntu Touch Focal OTA-4

@lduboeuf Small point of detail: it is not possible to import a personalized ringtone for a contact if the name of a personal file is written in several separate words. With just one word, the mechanism works well. Thanks for the feature.

@peat_psuwit

I am talking about the photo flash -

ah ok, could you file a bug in messaging-app with the filename that cause issue please

@dioginfo Argh... could you please collect the log, after you attempt to send an MMS, using
sudo journalctl --boot >system.log
? Please beware that the log contains sensitive information, so please do not post it in this thread itself but instead send it via forum's chat. You can also try to toggle the flashlight before collecting the log as well. What channel were you on before? 20.04 Stable? Also, have you tried turning off Wi-Fi before sending or receiving MMS?

Hello.
I am using the Sony Xperia X (F5121)
UT 20.04rc (2024-W03)
Error that I have noticed when using the device:-
For incoming and outgoing calls, when mobile data is activated, the call still interrupts the mobile data connection. It cannot be re-established in the current session. A restart is required.
Everything is OK with a Wi-Fi connection. -
Like Sander, I also don't see any charging information on my lock screen, even though it is activated in the Settings app.
-
Everything is OK when I start the camera app.
The selfie camera works perfectly.
But with the front camera, a wide strip appears in the centre of the picture from halfway through the zoom.
It is not visible in the photos, but it is recorded in the video recordings.

I turned off the wifi and managed to receive MMS but did not manage to send it, flashlight don't work in the camera and the toggle too, before I was on 16.04 stable...
I am reading the log...

Right. If you're able, please collect the log, after the symptom occur but before reboot, using command
sudo journalctl --boot >system.log
. After that, please pull the filesystem.log
from the device. Please beware that the log contains sensitive information, please don't post it in this thread but rather send it to me via forum's chat. That said, given multiple failure modes this can have, it's unlikely that we can figure out another one on time for OTA-4. So, unfortunately, we'll have to live with this issue for another OTA. Sorry for your inconvenience.
- Like Sander, I also don't see any charging information on my lock screen, even though it is activated in the Settings app.
It's a known issue that, on some devices, the device's kernel doesn't report information required for calculating the charging time. In that case, the charging time might not appear or it can always appear as "Fully charged". In such case, the porters will have to fix the issue on that device.

Does this happen only in this RC, or have it ever happened before with the previous OTAs as well? I don't see interesting device-specific changes in this cycle for Xperia X, so I don't know what could cause a problem.

It's a known issue with earlier versions.

Right... while we appreciate all reports, the purpose of this forum thread is to find a regression compared to the previous OTA. For other issues, please report it to our bug tracker inbox at https://gitlab.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch.
Sorry for you inconvenience.

@peat_psuwit, I have already solved the WiFi connection issue. It was just one of my router's security features preventing reconnection to WiFI, similar to the Android 11 issue.
Anyway,
I have an Xperia X F5121 and here are some things I noticed:
-
The dark theme is a welcome as my 20.04 OTA-3 installation didn't have it.
-
Personal hotspot still doesn't work, just like in OTA-2, where the Xperia X isn't on the list. I am able to configure the personal hotspot but still can't connect to it.
-
LTE often disconnects randomly after plugging in a USB cable in-car to charge. I remedy this by resetting APN settings.
-
The phone recognises my Sony head unit (and vice versa) much more quickly now than ever.

lock screen now shows the estimated time to charge your phone:
This is now working on OP6T

I am using poco m3, will it get Focal OTA-4 update? Is it compatible. I will be glad to test the OS if my device is supported. Currently running on 16.04
-
@AdhithAdhi I already answered in your other post.
Sadly your device has not been ported to focal (yet?).
