    • RE: Xenial on Meizu Pro 5

      @Flohack I'm running the RR from faust93 on my Ubuntu pro 5 (for some months since Canoncal droped it)... The RR works almost 100% great... So if the Ubports would be based on that base I would most probably switch back since then hopefully also all bugs that the Pro5 had will be gone... (ex Bluetooth, Headphone volume, no å,ä,ö in messaging, miracast (cromecast) support, etc...).

      Just a question if I now could do without the gapps since I started to get used to be able to do my bank tasks on my device now a days...

      So with Anbox and libertine container with access to the system (sdcard, gps, camera etc.) and the bugs above solved I would do a switch back all day in a week...

      For now only my BQ e 4.5 running the ubports and the M10 is still on Canonical image planning to do the switch as soon there's some news on the 16.04 ...

      @zsoltmd Hi I use the RR (https://forum.xda-developers.com/meizu-pro-5/development/rom-aicp-nougat-12-0-unofficial-t3478872)

      But for me it works close to great. The fingerprint I don't use, and initially I had issue with that it lost network connection. But the last month no issue at all...

      So for me it's the daily driver now...

    • RE: July 22, 2017 UBports Community Update

      Hi,

      Last community update I asked a question on convergence and libertine container restriction...

      I do think that my question was probably misunderstood or I was not clear enough in how I formulated it... So I do a second try.

      Reading the announcement from Canonical (or seeing marks"Steve" Jobs" movie...). Ubuntu was aiming for convergence, one device that will be everything, phone, computer, desktop, laptop, tablet ...

      Now also reading the latest blog on UBports (https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-blog-1/post/convergence-will-be-the-future-of-computing-46) it also summaries perfectly what draw my attention to the project initially.

      Based on that announcement and also that blog post that this is what UBports also want to work on I rephrase my earlier question.

      How will UBports team work with convergence? How will you be able to run anykind of Linux desktop software on your mobile device? In a container? In that case how will you restrict / give access to the system ?

      Ex how will Libreoffice be able to access sdcards for storage or printers both through lan or cable? And how will that work in cellphone mode / desktop mode with monitor attached?
      Or to get Linux desktop Skype working on your phone? Will it then be able to connect to your cameras?
      How will you install Linux desktop SW? apt-get ? .\configure make? rpm deb ...

      As a phone UT has a sleek UI and the privacy is for sure important, but I do think that many with me was hooked on the video with Mark throwing up a phone in the air that become a laptop etc... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpWHJDLsqTU&t=168s and when he talks about 1000 of linux sw to choose from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h384z7Ph0gU)

      Because if anything (Linux like) could be run on my phone... Theoretically I could then install Virrtualbox and run a Android image on it or even better snap the Anbox since it should already be installable on 16.04 desktop... Just when I need some Android related stuff...

    • RE: July 8, 2017 UBports Community Update

      @UniSuperBox I'm following the UBports continues work with great pleasure and interest.

      I have 2 questions...

      1. Will you have a regular release scedule for OTA's in the (near) future, i.e. like a bimonthly release or something simillar
      2. One of the biggest "selling points" for UT was / is convergence and that you should be able to use the same SW on your computer as your cell... And actually the device should be the same. Canonical delivered the Librecontainer that did almost create that possibility. But one annoying thing (there where others to) was that you couldnt connect with the HW of your device due to "security". So libre office couldnt store files on the SDcard, OpenCPN couldnt reach the GPS and Skype wouldnt be able to connect to camera or mic... Are the UBports working on any solution to get convergens work? (Updating libre or something new?) Any timeline?

    • RE: Desktop apps

      @1896er But I guess you cant access your sdcard? Do anyone know if theres any plan to get Librecontainer to have some limited access to certain HW that you could set when creating the container?

    • Libertine acces to device?

      Re: Desktop apps

      Hi are there any plans to open up Libertine so it can actually access for example the sdcard, camera, gps etc ?

      Still eager to run openCPN on my BQ M10...

      @NeoTheThird
      Hi isn't the Pro 5 summing up quite well to that req? Arm64 good CPU. 3g ram and an super screen... A decent battery and with miracast it can as well do convergence...
      Just to my understanding still some annoying bugs.. Haven't moved to ubport yet so its just insight by reading in the forum.

      And how about Bluetooth, is it still interrupting or is it now working?
      Would be super if you could also post some screenshot on the new scopes!

      @mariogrip since the M10 and Meizu devices are currently not in core, legacy or development in the device list how should you see them.
      And back to another question where can you read some release note ex which feature / bugs that been fixed?

      Thanks!
