Thanks for the replies folks. I will investigate the warrenty return on this one. If I can get a goid deal from them on the PPP I will consider lurking on these forums to watch for when the 20 release is ready. I'd like to help more than issue/bug reports, but I've too many projects in the go!

RE: Microphone not working in calls? Dv:837 Pinephone
Yup appears it was dodgy contacts to the microhone. Hadn't occurred to me that there were any spring contacts in the signal path, very close to the vibrator motor too.
Wasn't anything obviously amiss but a strip pull up a few spring contacts and rebuild fixed it.
As it happens the revorder app still doesn't work. Will try the command prompt test and respond here for completeness.

RE: New pinephone any good?
@cliffcoggin yeah I understand that thanks. Any idea what is the favorite phone/mamufacturer is with the devs? ...or perhaps a best balance of works well with Ubuntu Touch and doesn't cost the earth.

Fairly sure the microphone is dead on my phone. Any advice on the best way to approach warrenty claims with them?

Reverted to the RC and carried out a complete reset. Still no mic and same faults on the sound recorder.

RE: Microphone not working in calls? Dv:837 Pinephone
@cliffcoggin Got any other suggestions? All functions executed without error, or needing to install anything. It recorded buzzing/static similar to whatis heardon calls.

RE: Microphone not working in calls? Dv:837 Pinephone
I have carried out a command line test of the microphone and it is just making static noise. Followed the instructions here:

RE: Microphone not working in calls? Dv:837 Pinephone
Ok looks like it might be a pinephone issue rather than Ubuntu touch. Dropped back to RC Version 23 and forced a reinstall on all apps.
I've an application called recorder that is firing two error messages: "Failed to connect to stream: Access denied" and "Internal data stream error." both followed by "(Reset your settings will fix this.)". Resetting the settings in the application does not fix it.
Thoughtit may have been something todo with the privacy switch but this was in the on position, and changing it while the phone was powered up didn't seem to raise any notifications on the screen. The recorder app raised the same error with the mic switch in the off position. I've never used these switches before.
