@tuxy I own a Pixel 3a and an Lg Nexus 4. They are all running Ubutntu Touch (which I love). However, you will only be able to make phone calls by utilizing Linphone and Sip (as someone else mentioned). Until Ubuntu Touch is able to support Volte (Voice over Long Term Evolution), you will not be able to make phone calls by connecting to one of the USA networks. A few may still be working, but by July, 2022 they will all be gone. So let us all pray for Volte implementation in Ubuntu Touch. They are working on it, but it is evidently a really difficult implementation to develop.

VOLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution)
If anyone has any information about the time table for implementation of VOLTE in UBuntu Touch and its current progress please post it here. After July, 2022 no phone without this implementation will work in the USA except through WIFI connections. I would love to have my Pixel 3a work. Any news would be very helpful. Regards, David S

RE: No mobile internet connection
For those in the USA please be aware that both the phone and UBuntu Touch must implement VOLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution), or the phones will not connect to a celluar network in the USA. Any new information on VOLTE implementation in UBuntu Touch would be very much appreciated. Regards, David S

VOLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution)
I now have a Google Pixel 3A and a LG Nexus 4 running UBuntu Touch and I love the OS, but we need VOLTE integrated into the OS or no one in the USA will be able to connect to a cellular network after July, 2022. That is when all support for non-VOLTE phones will be dropped by the last carrier in the USA. Does anyone have any information as to the progress of VOLTE implementation in UBuntu Touch (other than what was posted in the July 2021 news post? Please let us all know. Thank you. David S

RE: No network (AT&T)
@billboy5690 You are not alone in having problems connecting to a cellular network in the USA. I spent a week or so until I got Ubuntu Touch working on a Pixel 3a phone only to find that everything works great except making calls and sending messages. The software looks better than anything else I have ever seen in the mobile space. As far as I can tell we will no longer be able to make calls or receive messages on any network in the USA after mid-July, 2022.
I am on the Verizon LTE network (via US Mobile). The problem seems to be that all of the US based networks are requiring VOLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution). Before I installed UBuntu Touch on my Pixel 3A I tested the connection with the Sim card that I have and it worked perfectly. However, neither my phone or a LG Nexus 4 that I purchased with UBuntu Touch installed will connect to the network. Although the physical phones implement VOLTE, UBuntu Touch does not, so until the UBuntu Touch team can implement the standard, everyone in the USA is out of luck.
You may be getting an intermittent conection because AT&T still has some 2G and 3G networks running for a little while longer.
I certainly hope the work continues on VOLTE for UBuntu Touch. If anyone know anything specific (other than last July's announcment of the intention to implement VOLTE), please let us all know.
