    • RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A | February 17, 2018

      So here are my questions:

      1. How's 16.04 coming up?
        1.1. What is the progress?
        1.2. What is missing?
1.3. What's the time frame we have at this moment (with no promises)?

      2. There's confusion and mayhem on the Internet. People who haven't been paying close attention don't understand what's the status of convergence on UBports at this moment.
2.1. So what's it the status? Does it work at all? How far is it from working?
2.2 What is needed to use convergence right now? Do we need a docking station?
2.3. What can we expect on Xenial regarding convergence?

      3. Now that Unity8 is converging (AH AH) to UBports fold, can we expect a developers ISO image of Unity8 to help developers of the Desktop Environment and of apps (and testers too)?

      4. What's progress on routing services for unav?

      5. Can we make unav a core app with direct support from UBports while off-course keeping the most kind developer we have (Costales) in control?

      6. Since Private Internet Access is a sponsor would it be possible, and desirable to find an easy way to use their service from within Ubports (integrated with UBports account management and maybe and indicator to turn it on and off)?

      7. Have you heard about Quad Nine privacy minded DNS service? What about finding a way to activate it easily on Ubuntu Touch?

      8. Any news or developments on Halium?

    • Portuguese *Ubuntu* get togheter

      Hi all!

The Portuguese Ubuntu Community does some monthly social Get Togethers.

This includes all flavours and remixes of Ubuntu, including Ubuntu Touch. These meetings where from fairly early the place where Ubuntu Touch was promoted, due to the big interest of many of our community members, reinforced by the fact that we had a Canonical Ubuntu Phone Insider on our community (Tiago Carrondo), that was even present on the Canonical product launch in London. The Portuguese Ubuntu community was also promoting Ubuntu Phone on other community events.

As soon as the first BQ phone was out the Local Community created our first Ubuntu Phone telegram group for the Portuguese community, that today is the UBports Portuguese Language group.

So has you can see these Get Togheters are very Ubuntu Touch friendly, we ususaly have several Ubuntu touch users present), and is more often than not, a subject of conversation.

If you're in the Lisbon/Sintra area please drop by and have chat and some beer and pub food with us. You'll be most welcome!

For more details and to share our little event please checkout any of these websites:

    • RE: What happend to the diaspora channel?

      Hi,

Being part of the marketing team, and one of the social media accounts manager, I can tell this is just a matter of manpower. We have distributed the social media accounts between us, and it just happens that some people manage for some reason or the other to have more time to post on some of the social media services than others.

There's not strategy decision about post more on facebook and twitter than on the others, it just happen that we all give our best, but some have more time for that than others.

Having said this, if you want to help with this please contact me. We will try to integrate you within the team and make our presence on the privacy respecting social media networks better, by having the manpower to do it. We always try to have several persons for each social media network, but we can only do so much.

    • RE: Workshops at Locations

      Hi all,

I'm also interested in meeting, no matter what the subject. I'm very frequently in Brussels, and Lisbon, so any place that is near, or has good direct transportation is fine for me.

I want to leave the suggestion of instead of using GetTogether instead of the Meetup.
GetTogether is Free Software, made by Michael Hall (former Canonical employee, former Ubuntu Community Manager, current Community Manager at Endless, and all around nice guy). Besides being Free Software that we can run by ourselves, we can federate it, or just use GetTogether.community service.

I believe GetTogether is more aligned with this community goals, and we can benefit both projects.

    • FOSDEM Attendees

      Hi all!

At the Ubuntu Community in Europe, we usually create a Telegram chat group for the attendees of events like Ubucon Europe and FOSDEM.
We use these groups to help each other navigate foreign countries, chat regarding the event, and coordinate meeting points etc...

For FOSDEM we have this group since last year. And being Ubports also part of Ubuntu Community and Telegram available for our platform I think it make complete sense for you to join us on the group and activities during FOSDEM.

You can join the group by following the link:

Hope to see many of you there!
