@kugiigi That makes sense. I had the original release on it a long time ago, then wiped it for LineageOS (Android 7.1.2) with a decent SD card and a lot of swapping.

Now - I cannot find the original release based on Ubuntu 13.x anymore sadly!

Was hoping to be able to use a new version... or even find the original ROM to flash haha.

@alan_g Thanks for that! That answer satiated my curiosity for sure - but its unfortunate there are not enough volunteers!

The only thing I can really volunteer to do is outreach - looking for volunteers on UBPorts-supported device forums on XDA, etc.

Is there anything a user/fan like me can do to help?

    • Phoronix: Mir 2.9 w/XDG-Shell; Add'l Extensions: Any Impact on UBPorts?

Saw this article. Thought it could perhaps be of benefit to UBPorts, but do not know enough about the underlying graphics stack.

I do not follow IRC feeds or anything where maybe everyone already talks about this, 20.04

Only recently learned mir is still used.

I am simply curious as a user, that is all. I am really excited about the future of the project.

@arubislander Dang, got it thank you! Looks like it will have to be PostmarketOS at some point. Sadness reigns.

      Thank you!

    • galaxysmtd (Galaxy S Original / GT-I9000T) - CM13/Lineage14.1 Blobs and Kernels Available... is... could it be possible?!

I have a GT-i9000T running Lineage. Never have ported anything in my life. That being said, I have the Lineage device tree/blobs and from there will start reading the porting guide and see what magic can happen.

So far, here is the old XDA link with the the flashable ROM files.

      https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-final-7-1-2-unofficial-lineageos-14-1.3703447/

Here is the device tree / blobs: https://github.com/galaxys1-nougat

      Here is the kernel: https://github.com/galaxys1-legacy/android_kernel_samsung_aries

With this info, do you think porting is possible? Otherwise, would Marshmallow-based 6.1 be better? It SEEMS like there are at least possibilities here...

... if you think there are indeed possibilities, I will go ahead with trying to read guides, tinker, rage, fork things and not know what I'm doing on github, try again, maybe fail, maybe learn some new stuff... and maybe get a semi functional (calls/sms) ubuntu touch install on this device 🙂

    • Compiling Latest mesa+freedreno?

Hello! (Originally I thought this would be easy: setup device, ssh into it, install deps, build cmake, meson, ninja-build and llvm for newest versions, git clone mesa, meson configure for freedreno, meson build, ninja install and BOOM good to go)

      .... that isn't the case.

I've noticed that by compiling the latest mesa on desktop devices I've been able to get OpenGL (and in some cases OpenCL) support using various drivers.

The freedreno driver looks very promising --- so earlier today I installed UBPorts on my 6P (latest though seems to be 16.04.7 branch).

Ran out of space downloading the depedencies and pre-reqs that I've discovered for compiling mesa. Then discovered that, hey, if I want to do this on-device I need to do it in a libtertine container...

... not to mention I believe 16.04 uses mir instead of wayland (and because of no glx supports; this device has been stuck on 16.04 instead of 18.04)

      That being said:

What do I need to do try to mess around with creating the latest mesa with wayland support for 18.04 for this device.
