      Hello, everyone !

      I am a C dev and Linux/Ubuntu enthusiast.
I own a Meizu pro 5, which I use as my primary phone. It seems like you guys are planning on keeping supporting it in non-legacy mode, and I'd like to help with that. I can of course do QA as well for that phone.
I'm still a bit unclear on how to join, as I'd really like to avoid using telegram, but I've created a trello account in the meantime: https://trello.com/iorekbyrnison1

    • RE: UBports Community Q&A - Saturday, April 15, 2017

Do we still want to make Mir run on top of Wayland, if Canonical is going to keep working on Mir ?
So the end goal is running directly on top of Wayland ?
What's the option for Meizu Pro 5, if we can't get the Android source ? Is having someone Reverse Engineering the binary blobs an option ? That seems a better long-term solution...

Maybe a FAQ could be a good idea ?

    • RE: Roadmap

@Flohack : Couldn't agree more ! We're never going to get the same amount of apps, but being able to run desktop apps would be a huge advantage. I was disappointed to see that I couldn't read .mkv file on my phone, which would not have happened had I been able to run VLC. That would also let the user choose between a lot of options, and I believe that's one of the things that Linux and Ubuntu stand for.

    • RE: Collaboration between ubports and yunit projects.

The best way might be to have a mobile branch, a desktop branch, and a common branch ?
That way each group can try stuff out without worrying about breaking things for the other folks, and then integrate it to the main branch when it's stable enough.
It might even be worth it to have someone on each side try the code out before it gets pushed onto the main branch and then pulled into the other project's.
Of course that means we add an interface, and that might delay progress, but we're probably going to have to do that kind of things internally anyway, so why not do it also between the 2 projects ?
