    • How to resize root partition (preferably) before or (less preferably) after install?

      Hi all,

I have just installed the Ubuntu touch 20.04 on my OnePlus 5T, and realised that the root partition was created very small:

      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
      udev 3.7G 744K 3.7G 1% /dev
      tmpfs 769M 4.8M 765M 1% /run
      /dev/sda13 111G 2.6G 103G 3% /userdata
      /dev/sde21 2.9G 2.7G 190M 94% /
      /dev/loop0 457M 295M 153M 66% /android
      [...]

I have found some instructions to resize the partition, however they seem to be targeted at situations where / is mounted over the loop from a file in /userdata (e.g. system.img). However, on my phone this does not seem to be the case: the only loop device mounted in a 457MB partition mounted at /android; the actual root is on /dev/sde21 (see above), and the partition table on /dev/sde is wild! Also I am curious where the 6 storage devices come from (sda..sdf), but that's another story.

So the question is: is it possible to (a) read some info somewhere on why so many partitions are created during the installation, and (b) during the partitioning stage alter the size of the root partition? I was using ubports-installer on Mac OS, and it obviously didn't give those options.

      Thank you!

    • Accessing the modem for AT commands / voice?

      Hi all,

Could anyone please point me to some documentation on how Ubuntu Touch handles voice and AT commands for the in-built modem on OnePlus 5T?

I have discovered /dev/ttyMSM0 and /dev/ttyHS0 but they don't seem to respond to AT commands when connected via minicom.

      Why?:
I would like to install asterisk and try to make a VoIP bridge out of the phone. For this I would like to know how the internal modem routes the audio (I can see there are a few 50 alsa devices on the system, seemingly linked to the MSM device :-S) and how to communicate with the modem to read SMS etc.

      Thank you!

    • RE: How to resize root partition (preferably) before or (less preferably) after install?

@Luksus In my case nothing happened as the partition was already 786432 blocks long, so that did not help.

What I am more wondering about is why is the partition table created exactly like it is? It's clearly made by Ubuntu Installer and not Android (when Android [e.g. LineageOS] is installed, the partition table is definitely different.) And the partitions are crazy (see below)

So I hypothesise that it's possible to change the partition table setup [e.g. create root at /dev/sdaX, see below] at installation time, but not sure yet how -- any ideas?

Also, I see that /dev/sde is 4GB. I wonder if this is on the hardware level, or there is another mapping level done by linux kernel -- will check this again by reinstalling Android and looking at the devices. journalctl or dmesg don't hint whether or not these are separate devices; however, udev shows each of them has its own SCSI LUN which I think implies these are indeed separate devices.

      P.S.
      /dev/sda: 113.6G (out of those, 113.2G mounted at /userdata)
      /dev/sdb: 4M
      /dev/sdc: 4M
      /dev/sdd: 128M
      /dev/sde: 4G
      /dev/sdf: 1.5 (1G mounted at /var/lib/lxc/android/rootfs/vendor)

      Partition table for /dev/sde:

      Disk /dev/sde: 4 GiB, 4294967296 bytes, 1048576 sectors
      Disk model: KLUDG4U1EA-B0C1

      Thank you!
