Hey fellow UBports users,
I’m Mrak Pousee, using Ubuntu Touch on a BQ Aquaris X5 Plus (Dual SIM). Since applying the latest updates, my device keeps getting stuck on “Selecting Network”—regardless of which SIM slot is active. It eventually connects after a few minutes, but it's super annoying and unreliable.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Switched between SIM slots and swapped SIMs to rule out a hardware issue.
- Toggled Airplane Mode on/off—sometimes jumps to 4G, but mostly still hangs.
- Went into System Settings → Cellular and toggled Roaming Allowed, even tried disabling it entirely.
- Checked that the correct APN settings are saved for both SIMs (they’re working fine in another phone).
- Rebooted into Recovery and reinstalled the modem firmware via phablet-flash.
My gut says something in the modem firmware maybe UBports isn’t handling the dual SIM logic right now but I’d love to know if anyone else with this model has seen the same issue.
Has this happened to you?
- Did a specific update trigger it?
- Is there a fix (e.g., tweaking rilproxy settings, switching to a fallback network mode) that reliably resolves the “Selecting Network” hang?
- Or is it better to roll back the modem firmware?
Appreciate any suggestions even if it’s just your own experience. Thanks a ton!
