The rest of the day is dedicated to hands-on work, discussions, and collaboration on areas like kernel mainlining, bootloaders ( #uboot ), packaging for mobile distributions, and preparation for upcoming community events such as #FOSDEM2026 .

On Tuesday, January 13, 2025 there will be happening 5th Mobile Hackday in Prague.
The event focuses on Linux on mobile devices, kernel development, and practical hacking around mobile platforms.
The day will include short lightning talks on topics such as:
* sending Linux kernel patches using b4 #LinuxKernel
* what makes a high-quality commit (in the kernel and beyond) #QA
* a NixOS Mobile demo #NixOS1/2

The huge value of mainline based phones is the longevity and relatively low-cost of supporting the phone for many upcoming years. This cannot be reasonable done for Android based devices (at least not at voluteering scale, without having many full-time employees).

While this is a lovely statement, I would prefer to not burn money on Android based phone as FLX1s.
Having mainline support for your hardware isn't easy nor cheap. It requires huge investment. I'll rather continue working on OnePlus 6/6T support until it can be daily driven by regular users.
