Yes, I did through snap.
I did get the Tab into edl mode, but connected or otherwise I get the same error.
Is there a step by step (idiots) guide to installing and using? Sure I've miss-stepped somewhere.

@luksus after reflashing the boot.img it has indeed booted into ubports!
I am up and running, thank you so much for your help.
