Not dual booting at all, I flashed ubuntu over the baseband of cm12.1. I thought that was what the advice was!

RE: Nexus 5 ota 11
Ok, I flashed twrp recovery then cm12.1, then reflashed ubuntu rc-proposed (which didn't go super smoothly, I had to wipe the system in twrp first, otherwise --bootstrap failed) but no change. The Browser just hangs on the spinny loader anim, music same, gps doean't work, bluetooth doesn't work. All pretty much the same as ota-11, just with things hanging instead of crashing.
Do we need to donate a a nexus 5 to @mariogrip? I have acquired another one with a broken screen here, which I can fix and send if it's going to be useful?

RE: Nexus 5 ota 11
@sagar.pradhan ok so is it just the baseband/radio to flash? what exactly should we update to 5.1.1?
-
RE: Nexus 5 ota 11
Interesting so when flashing using ubuntu-device-flash and touch, it doesn't update the kernel/base? What is intended for android base, cyanogenmod base? The radio and the kernel?

RE: Nexus 5 - Suggestions/Bugs
Not sure where this should go, I have made some comments on the launchpad bugs pages.
Basically I think loads of the trouble I'm having with apps not starting, crashing or hanging after the initial loading screen is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubports-android/+bug/1625832, would make sense if the web apps use Browser as a base?
Not sure why uNav would hang but maybe what is crashing the Browser app is also causing calls to web services in other apps to silently fail?
Telegram 100% works, so not a connectivity issue.

RE: Bounties and Bountysource ?
@apple.muncy yeah on the nexus 4 it's got very good since ota-11+ that's a reference device for Canonical though so more resources than ubports!

RE: Trust, Accountability and Transparency.
@jayywolff what channel are you on with the nexus 5 now? I can't get it into a state where it's usable as a daily driver? Can't see any change with the last 9 releases 224->233 either, or updates to the lauchpad bug list.
I really want this project to work and would contribute a small monthly amount if I knew things would improve to a state as to be comparable with the current OTA-13 on the official devices.

RE: Nexus 5 - Suggestions/Bugs
Hey, I know this is an old post but bugs shoudl go here I think https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubports-android
just in case anyone else comes by and wonders the same thing

RE: Bounties and Bountysource ?
@apple.muncy have you tried it on another device?
I have been on it on my nexus 4 for a year, and now with ota-13, it's a great thing, ready for day to day use no worries at all.
I came to the nexus 5 because I got one cheap with broken glass and repaired it because my nexus 4 has digitizer problems. The experience on the 5 is just broken in comparison to the Nexus 4, this will undoubtedly improve (hopefully!!). It's annoying as it's so much smoother running on the 5, looks way better too and has widi/miracast support I think?
So I think I will be getting a new screen for my nexus 4 and updating the 5 regularly until the ubports version gets to be where the nexus 4 is now.
I will support the effort financially in a small way if the bounties etc are goal oriented to that end.

RE: Bounties and Bountysource ?
@apple.muncy Is that fix-committed to devel channels?

RE: ubuntu-device-flash, changing channel to rc-proposed fails on Nexus 5
In the end I managed to get it inot the bootloader manually, vol up + down then power on. I flashed the factory android 6 back on and then did a fresh install of rc-proposed.
there is still something wrong with it though as "adb reboot bootlader" does not work.

RE: Nexus 5 ota 11
Situation is way better on rc-proposed, only the browser I have found that crashes on start so far. Installed a couple of other apps from the store and they ran fine too.
There's another thread about the bounty stuff for github issues.
Still no bluetooth for me though...

RE: Bounties and Bountysource ?
@below-freezing no worries! ok sorry, will post issues there, I thought you were asking to compile a list on here

ubuntu-device-flash, changing channel to rc-proposed fails on Nexus 5
Hey,
I am trying to move from stable to rc-proposed to see what differences/fixes there on on that channel. I do...
sudo ubuntu-device-flash --server=http://system-image.ubports.com touch --channel=ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed --device=hammerhead
It gets and pushes the files ok, says it created ubuntu_command ok, then after "Rebooting into recovery to flash" nothing. It doesn't reboot itself into recovery, if I then force it to go into recovery then nothing happens and it boots the old ota-11 version which has lots of issues at the moment.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

RE: Bounties and Bountysource ?
Hammerhead:
OTA-11 now means only 3 or 4 of the apps on the phone don't crash on launch.
Bluetooth problems.

RE: Nexus 5 ota 11
Yep OTA-11 is really broken, only apps that open for me are settings, contacts and the ubuntu store. Everything else crashes on opening.
I asked for some info regarding Hammerhead in another thread but as yet got no reply, is it that funding is needed to get stuff tested before it rolls out as an OTA? How much? Can we start a kickstarter or something? Seems to be a few people interested in the Nexus 5....

RE: Nexus 5 wireless and internet problems
I just installed stable today and wireless working perfectly for me so far (D821e).
Not tried yet with my SIM in as waiting for a new screen for this damaged nexus 5 before swapping over from a nexus 4.

Some info regarding Hammerhead
Hi,
Can someone let me know the status of aethercast/miracast/wi fi display convergence feature on hammerhead?
Also how far behind is it from the official channels? I'm on rc-proposed on a "new" nexus 5 I've managed to get hold of. It's a very impressive port and feels better than the official mako channels, so massive congratulations so far.
Last question, how long do you see hammerhead being supported with updates?
Thanks,
Tom.
