Hello,
I had the same problem as @armchairFF for dev channel updates. OPT5 wouldn't restart normally and stayed on Recovery boot, so I did the update on the stable release channel with Ubports installer, and I left my phone on the stable channel for now while waiting for the next ota-5.
But I think the problem had been mentioned somewhere 3 weeks ago ... ?

Hello,
Very good action !
Hopefully we'll be able to see the results of your work in ota-5.
Thank you. -
RE: Call for testing a the new build-variant "standalone-kernel-method" (vs. full-system-image)
@vince-vs said in Call for testing a the new build-variant "standalone-kernel-method" (vs. full-system-image):
I know @vince-vs would love to see the LED fixed. (Would you also dare to flash a kernel to get the led working?
Hello,
Very true, but I think it will make many more people happy than I am, and if the LED flashes again after incoming missed calls, just like it does when the battery is full after charging, it will be Top again.
What's more, you had written to me that the new kernel could solve the problem of the camera sound after recording, ...so, for me, what more could I ask for, except that the project continues in this way towards the path of fluidity for its operating system....
Many thanks to you -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
@stanwood
Hello,
Ha, so it's been a long time already.
It's a shame for such an important feature on a smartphone ...
In any case, I can tell you that in 2022, on my OPT5,
it worked, because I had to use the camera and film ( with sound ) to show my car dealer that there was a problem in the steering of the car and fortunately because it was repaired ...
Anyway, maybe if the new kernel that @danfro is talking about will be available in a very soon ota, maybe that will fix this annoying bug.
Sincerely -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
@danfro
Hello,
Please note that the audio recording of the camera does not work after broadcasting a call from OPT5; during an external call, there is no such problem.
If the only solution will be the new kernel, for the moment, until it's in a stable release, I can't risk installing it on a phone I use every day.
Do you think the new kernel will soon be available as a stable ota release ?
Sincerely -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
@danfro
Hello,
Thanks, great, but now I can complain less ... because it's no longer in the top 10 ...
In any case, it's clearer and maybe we'll be able to find someone to fix these bugs.
Regarding the camera, it seems to me that the sound after recording is more stable.
Can you confirm this ? -
RE: Notification lights not working](/topic/8775
@dosolly
Hello,
but no, at least not on my OPT5.
Can you restart your phone and give it a try, and then confirm ? -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
@danfro
Hello,
To lighten things up a bit, I'm going to tell you that a child who can't hear the music he's playing on a recording can be dramatic afterwards. But I like your sense of humour, and it wasn't actually a recording of a child playing the flute.
It was an explanation from someone who was demonstrating to my mum how to reassemble a part on her hearing aids ... it's funny, then, because when we watched the video, I understood even better the handicap of people who don't hear well ...
Another recording concerned a strange noise in my car when I was driving, and when I showed the video to the mechanic, he told me there was no noise and that cost me 30 minutes of his time ...
As you can see, there's plenty to laugh or cry about - that's life!
Yes, under Xenial the sound worked, and on my BQ5 and on OPT5, in French, everything was well translated, and that's where I don't understand (and this is not only the case on UT, but sometimes also under interfaces like gnome or kde), one version is well translated, and the next, for the same functions, is not well translated; that raises questions, doesn't it?
Have a nice weekend, and thank you for your investigations and what you bring to the UT community and users. -

edit:
I can see that you're giving a lot of yourself to solving these problems. Thank you so much! -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
@danfro
Let's put things in context, shall we?
It's the whole result that doesn't suit me, even though we're on ota-4 focal.
Why is that?
Because under Xenial, I took into account what was indicated on the device page of OPT5 to buy this phone. ( my first UT phone was the BQ E5 )
The features described worked well under Xenial and the language was complete.
This is no longer the case with Focal, where of course a lot of work has been done on other features, but they still don't work fully, and, for example, the problem of the camera not reproducing sound after recording is very annoying.
I'd like to get my hands into the system from time to time, but I'm not confident enough to do so, and besides, I use this phone every day.
In fact, for me, seeing that an LED is flashing after a call or a message is more relaxing than tapping to wake up a screen to see if there's a call or a message; it's a question of preference. (It's not for the pleasure of the eyes).
One day there will probably be no more models with LED, so I'll calm down ...
Please note that you have already helped me, and based on my judgement, I saw that I could operate according to your instructions and it worked, for which I thank you.
To conclude, I'd like to say that if the OPT5 devices page says that these functions are validated, they are not.
If I'm still using UT today, it's because I admire the project, the aesthetic simplicity of the system, and the greater respect for privacy. -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
Hello,
Let me put it this way;
I'm on UT ota-4 20.04.
I regret not staying with Xenial.
Whatever the paradigm of the UT community leaders,
I believe that a device in the top 10 should have a full translation for the language of its user (system and interface) and the essential functionality of the device working properly, ie for the OP5T, notifications led after missed calls, messaging, as well as full battery, and also a camera that broadcasts sound after a recording.
This seems essential to me, in order to have an efficient, practical UT that you can also brag about to your friends and family.
I would be happy if this could be taken into account for ota-5 or ota-6.
Best regards,
UT de user since 2016. -
RE: Notification lights not working](/topic/8775
Hello,
I don't know what the change of language could bring to the operation of the led for notifications, but I'm waiting for April 1st, for French speakers ...
As @danfro says, it still doesn't work after restarting UT, and that's a shame, because flashing after a call, a message, or the led working when the battery is charged, as was the case under Xenial, was quite handy on OP5T!
On the UT devices page for OP(T it says it works, but it doesn't.
Speaking of language, I hope UT will soon be fully translated into the user's language for display and parameters. -
RE: Call for testing: Ubuntu Touch Focal OTA-4
@peat_psuwit
Hello,
For flash light @dioginfo is he talking about the photo flash or the notification led ?
If it's for the notification led, I've already explained the problem several times:
and so it only works once after dev. or rc or stable update. After a second reboot of the device ( OnePlus5T ) it doesn't work anymore.For video recorder: on my OPT5, sometimes the recording has no sound.
Interface translations not complete, home screen and settings ...If it's not possible to solve this in ota-4, it would be a plus for the next ota ... ( if we show a UT to someone, it will be more convincing )
Thanks -
RE: Call for testing: Ubuntu Touch Focal OTA-4
@lduboeuf
Hello,
Yes, I first went from 16.04 Xenial to ota-1 20.04 Focal, and following various problems, I reinstalled focal directly with Ubports installer.

RE: Call for testing: Ubuntu Touch Focal OTA-4
@peat_psuwit
Hello,
Unfortunately, I don't have time to deal with this this week, and I'm a bit reluctant to dig deeper into my only phone that I use every day.
To rectify, on my OPT5, my version is in French, but on the home screen, there is still the information: "No text message received today" (so in English), but the date and time and the rest are in FR.
I should point out that in the system settings, there are several items that are still in English while the main one is in French; I've noticed that it's not only on UT that this sort of thing exists, because on a Linux distribution with, for example, KDE, Gnome, etc, it happens that there are still some indications (by default) in English, while a previous version was mature and well translated...
Have a nice day -
RE: Call for testing: Ubuntu Touch Focal OTA-4
Hello,
I agree with you about the improvements to UT, and about not always saying the same thing, namely that the led notification still doesn't work permanently on OPT5 : https://forums.ubports.com/topic/9592/notification-lights-not-working-topic-8775As for the comments shared by several users, here's what I've noticed:
@Moem writes:
My first impression is that it seems smoother/faster.
I reply: absolutely true!Waydroid still works. Incoming messages in Waydroid do vibrate.
I reply : I don't use Waydroid - lineage in practice, but in my case, I have installed it and I notice that MicroG crashes and so use would then be difficult ... ( but that may be beside the point ... )Starting the camera, I very briefly see a strip of the background at the bottom of the screen which is otherwise black during camera startup.
I reply: I've also noticed this.Camera works fine.
I reply: yes and no, that is to say that sometimes the recording has no sound, and this happened with ota 2, then it worked with Ota-3, then not always the sound with RC ota-4Double tap to wake doesn't seem to be working.
I reply:as has been pointed out, it's permanent, so it also works after restarting the device, but .... if I start Waydroid, then stop Waydroid, the double tap to wake is deactivated and you have to set it up again.
@Sander-Klootwijk write :
I encountered a weird bug: when changing the system language from Dutch to English, the system is partly in Dutch and partly in English. After a second reboot, this issue still persists. .....
I reply : same problem for me, in my case in French ...

RE: Notification lights not working](/topic/8775
Hello,
Happy New Year!I have just installed the rc ota-4 and the problem persists;
The flashing notification led works after installing the rc, and if I restart the phone again, that's it, it doesn't work any more.
On the OPT5 device page, something other than "works" would be more accurate.
However, when I was using xenial, as it worked well, I found it practical to have this LED flashing if there was a call or a message on my OPT5 ...and the green LED lit up when the device's battery charge was at 100%.
I should point out that I had uninstalled Waydroid before installing the RC, so it seems to me that Waydroid is not responsible.
For users who are interested, I would like to know if the notification led works correctly on your device, even after a restart.
Thanks in advance. -

RE: Notification lights not working](/topic/8775
@Moem
Hello,
I wanted to give myself a Christmas present by downloading the 12-19-2023 development version in the hope that the led notification problem would be solved.
As already explained in the post :
2023-08-23 20:39 the led light works only once after downloading a complete image in ota stable or in rc or in developpment.
The second time the phone is restarted and the following times it doesn't work !
So it's strange that the led notification after a call or message doesn't seem to want to work permanently ?
Best regards -
RE: Update info on devices.ubuntu-touch
@desoter
Hello,
No, this may be a bug on the page ... https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/dumpling/ ..
that says Torch isn't working, when nobody is complaining about that, and that it's the led notification that still isn't working when it was first reported a long time ago :
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8775/notification-lights-not-working
