        Hello to you all.

I’m new to the forum and in need for help already 😉
A couple of weeks back I decided to take the plunge and bought my self a secondhand Oneplus One to discover the world of UBports.
Today I finally took the time to go through the proces of the installation. I used the installation tool on a pc running Ubuntu 18.04.
All went smooth initially, but then I got the “Yikes”-message that something had gone wrong. Unfortunately I did not make a screenprint so I can’t reproduce the exact message. Instead I chose the option to try again. This time the program kept hanging, nothing happened.
The result is that when I when I restart the phone it goes no further then the screen with the oneplus-logo. I can boot into (UBports) Recovery. There I have 6 options to chose from.

I’m kind of lost now and unsure hoe to proceed. Any help is very much appriciated.

        Best regards, Gert

@gert-v are you using the latest installer version? https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases/tag/0.1.18-beta

Do you have adb and fastboot tools installed on your computer?

            Hi,

The adb- and fastboot-tools are installed, presumably the latest version. The version of the UBports installer wasn’t the latest, but version 01.13 that I downloaded from the site. I will remove the older version and install the one you recommended.
Once I’ve done that I can run the proces again using the new installer, I presume. Or are there other steps necessary before I proceed?

Thanks for your quick response, Gert

@gert-v yes, that's all. Start the installer and then plug your phone. Good luck!

                Alas, another Yikes!
After I installed the latest version of the installer everything went smooth, downloading all the files. But then the installation stopped and it showed “Adb push error”.

So, although the adb and fastboot tools are there, something still doesn’t seem quite right.

Almost there I think, but stuck for the moment. Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Much appriciated!

                Gert

@gert-v I'd need to take a look to the installer log to know what's happening for sure.

Although is not the recommended way, sometimes running the installer with sudo fixes that sort of issues.

@advocatux This time I ran the installer with sudo. But also this time the installation got stuck. ADB push gets up to 43%.
                    Then I get this.
                    ...
                    debug:
                    info: ADB push 43%
                    debug: message=Command failed: adb -P 5038 push "/home/gert/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-e5cf0885f061c9615931cf863a43f65d8590aa71027315ad71999252ce118868.tar.xz" /cache/recovery/
                    , stack=Error: Command failed: adb -P 5038 push "/home/gert/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-e5cf0885f061c9615931cf863a43f65d8590aa71027315ad71999252ce118868.tar.xz" /cache/recovery/
                    ....

I saved the complete output of the terminal if you need more.
                    Thanks a lot!

@gert-v Hi I know @advocatux is helping you on this but have you tried a different USB cable and /or port. If you have already please ignore this. Its only I was flashing a nexus 5 to 16.04 the other day and it just stuck at the same point twice. Changed the cable and no issue at all, and i'd used that cable without problems many times before.

@gert-v yes @Lakotaubp is right, I'm seeing a lot of issues with bad usb cables.

If you need to paste a big log, you can use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ and post the link here.

Edit to add: the full installer log is in your computer, you don't need to copy the terminal output

Thanks a million to you both. I just finished installing UBports on my Oneplus One. It took me a couple of tries to find a usb-cable that didn't mess things up, but after the third time it succeeded. Time to start exploring!

@gert-v Brilliant and welcome to UBports. Have a look at the link below for more interesting stuff to get you started, and enjoy UBports Ubuntu Touch.
As @advocatux asked what version your on remember if it's 16.04 RC it's not perfect yet , but the stable version is not far off. If it's 15.04 that is working perfectly well but is not being developed further but might be a better starting point. Any issues please come back and we will help as much as we can : )

@lakotaubp yes, I'm also asking because if he's on vivid he should apply these "flo hacks":
