Can anyone tell me how to start the browser from the command line? I've tried xdg-open, but got command not found message. Thanks in advance for your advice.

@dtarrant you could use ubuntu-app-launch webbrowser-app. See also ubuntu-app-launch-appids if you want to launch other apps from the terminal.

Fantastic! That works on my M10 HD tablet running vivid. Many thanks.
