OnePlus One & Anbox
-
Hi All,
According to the documentation below Anbox is not supported for OPO.
http://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/userguide/dailyuse/anbox.htmlDo you happen to know why?
Is it just because of lack of time to prepare image for this phone or there is a different issue. Thanks,
-
@tricky anbox only works in non-Qualcomm devices for now. I don't know the technical details but @UniSuperBox replied the last time this question was asked in the SG:
Mir and the Android drivers and the simulated android drivers seem to have some trouble negotiating a color space
-
The issue is that on qcom devices it has some EGL issues, by color buffer issues and/or incorrect frame buffer sizes.
-
Many thanks for your answers. Well, that doesn't sound optimistic. If that's really about hardware related issues then i don't think that it's possible to fix it.
-
So i have good news here! So after last thing got pushed for OTA4, i got more time to work on this, and I got some progress! after merging upstream and some more hacking I have got it working on qcom devices! It will still take time to be something usable for daily use, but i will push some test images this week. After OTA4 is out we will put more work into making anbox smooth and ready for daily driving.

@mariogrip Wow that's really great news! Many thanks for your effort. Just let us know when the image is ready so i can play with it.
-
@mariogrip Good, really good. Thanks
-
@mariogrip Very nice – I was just trying without a custom image, but that failed at some point, so I'll skip the headache and wait for your image instead
-
@mariogrip Will you just upload new images to http://cdimage.ubports.com/anbox-images/ so that I can periodically check there or are they already there and I don't get it... (because it lists the Nexus 5 for example in the devices.json)?
-
@te-online he is too busy( it's been a 6 months) I've asked him to update the images
-
Has anyone used the OnePlus One image at http://cdimage.ubports.com/anbox-images yet? If so, how does it go? Working absolutely fine?
-
@liamolua Yes, it's working fine...the native apps work fastest, the rest no bad...On my opinion and in these moments anbox could be a good option if you need a special android app for any determinates moments or situations, but you are not going to find the same funcionality with respect to Android ecosystem,at least of the moment.
