Reinstall Music app
-
Hi,
Is there a way to reinstall the music app?
I did a cleanup of my OPO before switching from Vivid to Xenial, and removed the music app.
But it wasn't reinstalled during the update.
How can I reinstall it, as it's not available in the Open Store?
Thanks -
@ellypsis Did you install with the wipe option? If you choose that it should put it back. Or someone else may have another way lets wait and see.
-
@ellypsis look for the broken symlink that is created when you uninstalled a pre-installed app in
/opt/click.ubuntu.com/
Delete that symlink and reboot your device and the removed app will be available again
-
@advocatux Thanks, it was that!
I delete the broken simlink in /opt/click.ubuntu.com/.click/users/phablet/symlink -
@ellypsis I had the same thing happen with my Nexus 5, but I can't fine any symlinks in the directory you mentioned. I'm going to try the wipe option.

@Lakotaubp Wiping during the 16.04 stable installation worked for me. Thank you.
-
@advocatux I found ~/.cache/com.ubuntu.music
But as with another under on this forum, there was no symlink under the suggestion that you gave. -
@nerd7473 it's in
/otp
and not in/home/phablet
-
@ellypsis I looked in /opt/click.ubuntu.com/.click/users/phablet/
there is no com.ubuntu.music nor any other thing that I found related to music... Other than in /home/.cache/ if at all possible I'd love to get the music app back. If I can get Music reinstalled without a wiping my phone I'd be glad. I did not find anything that stood out as a symlink for music... If someone can point me to a Click package if nothing else, can I get it through clickable? -
@nerd7473 you need to do what @Ellypsis said (https://forums.ubports.com/post/12153).
The music app is a deb package, not a click package, and it's included in the UT image, that's why is not available in the OpenStore.
You need to remove that aforementioned symlink (or reinstall UT without the
wipe
option).
