Does Anbox installation deletes all data and apps on the device?

I would like to test Anbox by following the instructions of the documentation: https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/userguide/dailyuse/anbox.html

The following command seems to delete all data and apps, doesn't it?

sudo fastboot flash $PARTITIONNAME anbox-boot-$CODENAME.img

Is it possible to avoid a complete reset of the phone?
