Come one, come all, for the latest in UBports Community Update goodness! This week we'll be taking a look at 16.04's state and reporting a bit on Halium. We'll also show off a small enhancement that makes 15.04 just a little bit better.

j'ai lu sur un précédent message que vous ne pourrez pas mettre à jour vers UT 16.04 les appareils BQ. Est-ce que vous pensez que dans un avenir proche vous pourrez le faire et pourquoi pas trouvez un accord avec BQ. Je pense qu'ils ne veulent pas tomber dans l' échec comme avec Cannonical.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to be present this day so I ask you my question in advance and moreover I find it difficult to follow a conversation in English (I am French lol).
I read on a previous message that you will not be able to upgrade the BQ devices to UT 16.04. Do you think that in the near future you will be able to do so and why not find an agreement with BQ? I think they do not want to fall into failure as with Cannonical.

Last community update I asked a question on convergence and libertine container restriction...
I do think that my question was probably misunderstood or I was not clear enough in how I formulated it... So I do a second try.
Reading the announcement from Canonical (or seeing marks"Steve" Jobs" movie...). Ubuntu was aiming for convergence, one device that will be everything, phone, computer, desktop, laptop, tablet ...
Now also reading the latest blog on UBports (https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-blog-1/post/convergence-will-be-the-future-of-computing-46) it also summaries perfectly what draw my attention to the project initially.
Based on that announcement and also that blog post that this is what UBports also want to work on I rephrase my earlier question.
How will UBports team work with convergence? How will you be able to run anykind of Linux desktop software on your mobile device? In a container? In that case how will you restrict / give access to the system ?
Ex how will Libreoffice be able to access sdcards for storage or printers both through lan or cable? And how will that work in cellphone mode / desktop mode with monitor attached?
Or to get Linux desktop Skype working on your phone? Will it then be able to connect to your cameras?
How will you install Linux desktop SW? apt-get ? .\configure make? rpm deb ...As a phone UT has a sleek UI and the privacy is for sure important, but I do think that many with me was hooked on the video with Mark throwing up a phone in the air that become a laptop etc... Because if anything (Linux like) could be run on my phone... Theoretically I could then install Virrtualbox and run a Android image on it or even better snap the Anbox since it should already be installable on 16.04 desktop... Just when I need some Android related stuff...

I'll probably need to replace my MX4 soon, but I'm having trouble figuring out which phone to buy. Can you help me by answering 2 questions?- Which of the current core-devices do you consider the best (measured on performance)?
- Will there be appointed a high-end phone as a kind of flagship?

FWIW, I find the Nexus 5 port to be excellent. I use Wifi, 4G data, phone calls, audio, Bluetooth (keyboard), and USB/adb all on a regular basis. It is a solid daily driver, with good performance and a decent screen. I've used the camera a few times, never tried video.

Hmm, I moved from the BQ e4.5 official Ubuntu to the Nexus 5 UBPorts a month ago and I went back in time. The performance and screen are better of course, but some very annoying bugs. I'm not sure I would've made the switch already if I knew this beforehand and would've just kept going with the low-end, but bug-free device.

@RandomUser What are those bugs? I did exactly the same move and I don't have anything major. I'm in the devel channel.

I also moved to the Nexus 5 and find it solid as a daily driver....

@wgarcia I don't have the bugreports at hand, so this is from memory:
- No notification LED
- Very low call volume
- Loud beep after hanging up call
- WiFi disconnects and requires password with WiFi extender
