After I realise that my terminal (BQ Aquaris E5) was not included on future releases, I took the decision to not only support UBports if not push my smartphone vendor to provide its proprietary Android source code to the community.
We, the orphaned users, must claim for our rights to our vendor companies as they compromised to provide us with an updated OS when we purchase their terminal.
Pd: And this apply to Canonical too .... as wishes maker, they are responsible.

@abp, you should address your complaints to Bq and Ubuntu.
You must know, from a legal point of view, both companies gave you support for 2 years. Yes, that sounds like a very short time but unfortunately that's common practice.
On the other hand, UBports is a volunteer project trying to keep alive the convergence vision, so to speak.
As you can understand, Ubports volunteers have little to no power to put pressure on any company.
Of course you're free to do whatever you want but it's very unfair to blame the people who is trying to extend the life of your phone precisely.

@advocatux I was not blaming anybody, not even the folks of BQ to whom I have had good contacts, and even less the volunteers of UBports. Just to make sure.

Well as an owner of BQ E4.5, knowing that we wont get any support anymore other then for some bugs made by the new flashed ubport version. I have decided to go back to android till i see in the future an ubport software stable with more apps and the ability to install some work apps made only for ios or android and running on a high end phone.
Till then i wish you guys all the luck you need and till we meet again.

Hmmm, check the archives of the mailing list ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net ; there have been reports of E4.5 users who switched to Android and came back crying. I, personally, would never switch to a system with proprietary apps which are phoning home and/or spying after you. When I would have to drop my BQ E4.5 I would rather go and buy and old Nokia 3310, or a Siemens S4, S10.

@guru For me, the experience turned unsustainable when issues regarding the most basics applications started to jeopardize my daily life. I have missed calls because issues with the bluetooth connection, I have miss important messages in Telegram because the notification server has been shut down. They are not just aesthetic problems or lack of applications (I had to encourage a lot of people to switch to Telegram just to keep the contact when I quitted from WhatsApp and not all followed me).
I known that it doesn't your fault guys, you are working very hard just to maintain the boat floating... But when we are talking about how we interact with the rest of the world, being an early-adopter is not an easy task.
Well, I'm still here along with my Ubuntu flavoured phone, so let's see how it evolves the next months.

@abp For Telegram, it seems to help to log out of Telegram on the phone (see the App menu, there is an entry for that), then also to remove the Ubuntu One account from the phone, add it back and then finally register again with Telegram. Did you try that?
The notification server is still working, its just that smth went wrong with your registration at the server, and we dont know when and why it happens...

I have one E4.5 with the latest Canonical OTA, and one with the UBports version. Tg is 2.3.36.2 on the Canonical and 2.4.41.1 on the UBports device. Re/ the notification: The green LED seems to work (nearly) everytime, the beep works mostly, esp. when the device is not in suspend mode. I do not know why the beep is not working always. But, this is by no means some blocker for me. And What's Ape is nothing I would use. When someone only wants to communicate over What's Ape with me, he lost me as contact and has to live with this.

Came back to what? A broken system with no apps what so ever? about spying lol, man your government, your provider, anything that is connected to the net is spied on some how or the other, so just spare me the gibberish spy song. Want to stay safe from spying, just avoid internet.
Now i still believe in ubports work and i am just waiting till they are done with their move and hopefully i can come back to ubport version of ubuntu touch after they are done and have new high end devices at their service.

Yes, using a phone w/o Internet and apps would even be better than an Android phone with apps with ultrasonic beacons spying after you, for example. Just sit and read before post, for example this: https://www.infosecurity-magazine.com/news/android-apps-with-ultrasonic/

You are right. We live in a connected world. This is great and has a lot of opportunities but also threats. So unfortunately we have to get used to the fact that there is less native privacy from day to day BUT...
...it is also a question of the personal attitude. What I want to say is that on some point it has to start even if this start has not the immediate potential to safe the world.So if now we have the opportunity to develop an alternative mobile OS we should be carefully aware about those general conditions.

Maybe the following is going too far for this discussion but anyway let me write this thought:
Out of a broader perspective I personally believe that privacy is one of the main preconditions for democratic and peaceful societies.
Only if we as citizens have the possibility to discuss controversial topics without fearing to be blamed by the officials and elites because of not stating the "universal trouth" with every sentence, we get better and beeter in understanding the complex world. This is due to someone who can identify and articulate the mistakes in our statements again without fearing to be blamed.
This personal understanding will than be the basis for our voting behaviour. So iteratively we - and so our systems - will get better and better.
